Practitioner Liu Hong of Yanji City, Jilin Province Killed by Local Police

Falun Gong practitioner Liu Hong was a schoolteacher in Yanji City. He had been steadfast in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. In November 2001, he was illegally arrested by the police. Refusing to cooperate with the police who were persecuting him, he protested by going on a hunger strike, and was force-fed. In mid December he was brutally forced fed, and was suffocated as the food was forced into his air passages. He lost consciousness, and was sent to the Yanji City Hospital for emergency treatment, but died soon after being admitted. Later, Yanji City Public Security Bureau and Yanji City Detention Centre strictly enforced an information blockade; therefore details are difficult to obtain.
