Police Officers from Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province Arrest and Beat Practitioners and Their Family Members

When Falun Gong practitioners Mr. He Shengxiang, Ms. Zhu Haixia, and Ms. Shi Liping were posting information about Falun Gong in Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province on the evening of June 12th, 2011, Pencheng Police Station officers Ding Dali, Tan Jun, Ding Xiao, Cao Dayong and others arrested and beat them.

At around 10:00 a.m. the next day, practitioner Mr. Huang Xianfa went to the police station to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong to the officers, but they would not listen to him. Instead they detained him, dragged him upstairs, and ruthlessly beat him.

Ms. Shi Liping's 70-year-old husband Mr. Li Pingsuo and their two sons, Mr. Li Tiehan and Mr. Li Handing, went to the police station at around 2:00 p.m. to demand her release. Upon learning that the police were withholding food from the three practitioners to make them sign some documents, Ms. Shi's husband said loudly, “Falun Gong is definitely good. You are so inhuman!” As soon as he finished saying this, several police officers ganged up on him and ferociously beat him and his sons.

Ms. Shi, her husband, and their son Mr. Li Tiehan ran out of the police station. The police chased them and struck Ms. Shi to the ground and lost consciousness. The police then chased and beat her elderly husband and son. Her son Mr. Li Tiehan managed to escape with help from bystanders. The police dragged the husband into the police station. As a result of the beating he was unable to move his arms or legs.

The husband and the son, Mr. Li Handing, were handcuffed and detained at the police station. Without following any legal procedures or informing their family, the police took them to the Ruichang Detention Centre, where they are still detained.

The other son, Mr. Li Tiehan, was placed on an Internet wanted list by the Ruichang City Domestic Security Division.
