Wanzhou District Brainwashing Centre Officials in Chongqing Covertly Incarcerate and Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

Communist regime agents in the Wanzhou District of Chongqing held a so-called "Study Session" in July 2011, on the Bayi Hotel's sixth floor in Zhoujiaba, the Wanzhou District. They covertly arrested local Falun Gong practitioners and held them in this brainwashing facility. They refused to allow practitioners to leave the room at any time, forced them to watch TV programmes slandering Falun Gong, and attempted to force them to write the three statements promising to give up their practice.

Wanzhou District Political and Judiciary Committee officials, together with 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents and officials from the police department, brainwashing centre, and neighbourhood office worked out a list of practitioners who were to be arrested and incarcerated for this brainwashing session. They started earlier this year, sending people to "visit" practitioners who had been released from forced labour camps and brainwashing centres, actually aiming to harass and intimidate them. The officials brought gifts and pretended to be concerned about the practitioners, but covertly looked for evidence to persecute the practitioners. They subsequently dispatched strictly-organized, small groups to follow the practitioners and quickly arrest them when no one was around.

Ms. Deng Jianrong and Ms. Mei Keqin from the Wanzhou District were arrested and taken to the brainwashing facility like this on July 7th.

Ms. Deng Jianrong, about 40 years old, is employed at the Wanzhou District Weather Bureau. A group of police officers suddenly rushed into her office on May 19th, 2011. Without following any procedures, they arrested her with the ruse that the police found her browsing the [Falun Gong] website. She was held at the Zhoujiaba Detention Centre, but had to be released later. They arrested her again on July 7th and incarcerated her at the Wanzhou District Brainwashing Centre.

Ms. Mei Keqin, who is in her seventies, lives in the Sute Dormitory in Guanyinyan, Wanzhou District. Officer Ding and seven others from the Guanyinyan Police Station broke into Ms. Mei's home on July 7th early in the morning. They arrested her and took her to the Wanzhou District Brainwashing Centre.

Each practitioner is locked up alone in a room with two persons assigned to monitor her. The three of them sleep, eat, and relieve themselves inside the room and are forbidden from contacting anyone else in other rooms.
