The World Championship Marching Show Bands, Kuala Lumpur 2011, is being held in Malaysia from July 23rd to 31st. The Divine Land Marching Band, made up of Falun Gong practitioners, was invited to participate in the opening ceremonies and stampede on the evening of Monday, July 25th, in Bukit Bintang Golden Triangle in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

In the evening, eleven bands from seven countries participated in the parade of the opening ceremonies. Robert Eklund, President & C.E.O. of WAMSB International, and judges from several countries attended the ceremony. The Divine Land Marching Band was the seventh band in the parade. The band members marched towards the guest stage and played the song, “Falun Dafa Is Good.” They also played other songs in front of the stage.
The band had also been invited to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Kuala Lumpur World Marching Band Competition (KLWMBC) 2009 in Bukit Bintang. The hosting organisation invited the band again this year to participate in the opening ceremonies of the largest marching band championship in the world.
This year about 3,000 people in 30 bands from eight countries participated in the competition in the world championship. They included 2 bands from Canada, 1 from the Czech Republic, 3 from Hong Kong, 3 from Indonesia, 2 from Thailand, 1 from China, 1 from Taiwan, and 17 from Malaysia. The finale will be held on Saturday, July 30th at Cheras Football Stadium. The hosting organisation estimated that admissions to the completion would total around 120,000.
The World Championship Marching Show Bands (WCMSB) is an annual event held by the World Association of Marching Show Bands (WAMSB), headquartered in Calgary, Canada. The championship is held in different countries year to year. This year’s championship in Malaysia is the show's third time in Asia.
