Practitioner Jian Yicong from Deyang Area, Sichuan Province Develops Incontinence as a Result of Being Tortured

Practitioner Mrs. Jian Yicong was arrested on July 31st. After being held for two weeks in the detention centre of Jingyang District, she developed urinary and rectal incontinence as a result of being tortured. In order to avoid responsibility, the police told her family to bail her out for medical treatment. Meanwhile, they still planned to sentence her to prison.

On July 31st, Jian Yicong was discussing the facts about Falun Gong with people in the Qingshan, Huangxu area. She was arrested by officers from the Huangxu Police Station in Deyang. She was taken and held at the Jingyang District Detention Centre that afternoon. That evening, people from the Domestic Security Division of the Jianyang Public Security Bureau put her in detention. On August 5th, they submitted her case to the district Procuratorate, who issued a warrant on August 31st. However, that warrant was not signed by anyone. Her case has now been submitted to the Jingyang District Court.

After Mrs. Jian was arrested, her family tried every means to see her. Hong Qi, director of the Domestic Security Division, constantly lied to them and said that they could see her in two days. On August 15th, officials of the detention centre suddenly notified her family that Ms. Jian had developed incontinence and that they needed to bail her out for medical treatment.

Her family could not believe that a previously healthy person, after being incarcerated for only 15 days, had been tortured to this extent. However, the police claim that they will still sentence her to prison.
