Many Practitioners Arrested and Harassed by Police from Gaobeidian City

Officers from the Gaobeidian City Police Department, Domestic Security Division and 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) arrested and harassed many practitioners on October 24th, including Mr. Hu Zhenchun, Ms. Wang Huanling, Ms. Tian Hongmei, Ms. Xiao Xiuying, Ms. Chu Xiaolan, Ms. Zhang Yuqin, Mr. Wang Tieqiang and Mr. Wang Yinpo.

Mr. Hu Zhenchun from Yangmansa Village was arrested at around 6:00 p.m.. Not long ago, he returned home after finishing a one-year term at Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp.

Ms. Wang Huanling's home was broken into at around 8:00 p.m. They arrested her and took her to the Gaobeidian Detention Centre. Ms. Wang was a well respected teacher at Wenming Road Elementary School before she retired. After practising Falun Gong, her bone hyperplasia disappeared. After her retirement, she voluntarily cleaned up the school rubbish which had accumulated over the years. However, because of her belief, she was sentenced to Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp. On October 24th, the school authorities ordered her to sign a guarantee statement to renounce her belief. Ms. Wang refused to sign and insisted that it was not wrong to be a good person.

Zhao Zhonghua, in his 40s, led approximately nine officers from the Gaobeidian Police Department to Ms. Xiao Xiuying's home at around 5:00 p.m. They harassed her and searched her home. Zhao even videotaped the event. Zhao also participated in Ms. Xiao's arrest on June 17th, 2008 and beat her at the police station.

Ms. Tian Hongmei was arrested on October 24th.

The police also harassed Mr. Wang Tieqian, the owner of Huixianju Restaurant; Mr. Wang Yinpo, from Gongxinzhuang Village; Ms. Chu Xiaolan and Ms. Zhang Yuqin.

In the afternoon of September 6th, officers from Gaobeidian broke into Ms. Cao's home in the Tiankuo Residential Quarters and arrested her, her sister, Ms. Xiaoli, Ms. Liu Yanxue, Ms. Yang Suhua, Ms. Yu Lianfen and Ms. Liu Lanping. The head of Gaobeidian 610 Office, Li Jinlong, recently had Ms. Xiao, Ms. Yu and Ms. Liu sent to Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Liu was not accepted by the camp authorities as she failed the physical examination due to her poor health, and was later released.
