Ms. Zhang Alian, in her 30s, from Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province was arrested at work on November 2nd, and taken to the Jinchengwan Brainwashing Centre. Prior to her arrest, 73-year-old Ms. Ge Xiuying from Wuxi City was arrested and tortured during interrogation.

Ms. Ge Xiuying's daughter, Ms. Dai Lijuan, was arrested twice and held in a mental hospital, where she was injected with unknown drugs. She was arrested again in 2003, and severely beaten by the police to the point of being in critical condition. She was paralysed due to the severe abuse, and died on March 28th, 2011. Ms. Ge Xiuying was distributing DVDs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong at 7:00 p.m. on October 30th, when officers from the Jinxing Police Station in the Binhu District arrested her, ransacked her home and took away Falun Gong books, informational materials, an MP3 player, 1,000 yuan1 she had for living expenses and other personal belongings.

Ms. Ge was taken to the Jinxing Police Station for a day before being transferred to a hotel at an undisclosed location, where she was subjected to torture and sleep deprivation. The police officers threatened that they would harass her niece and granddaughter and force them to quit school if she refused to tell the source of the informational materials. Ms. Ge told the police about Ms. Zhang Alian when she was temporarily muddle-headed.

Officers from the Jinxing Police Station and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) arrested Ms. Zhang on November 2nd, and held her in a hotel.

Ms. Zhang is currently being held in the Jinchengwan Brainwashing Centre in Wuxi City. Ms. Zhang's mother, Ms. Ji Peiying, was arrested in March 2011 by Wuxi City 610 Office agents. She is currently being held in a forced labour camp.
