Former Kindergarten Teacher Ms. Jia Guirong Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Guirong from Baicheng City, Jilin Province was arrested by officers from Baicheng City and Qinhuangdao City on September 1st, 2011 at her rented residence in Qinhuangdao City. Two months later, Baicheng City Court officials sentenced Ms. Jia to four years in prison.

Ms. Jia has been persecuted many times for having remained steadfast in her spiritual belief, Falun Gong. Before practising, she suffered from serious heart disease, gynecological problems, neurasthenia, gastritis, and other ailments, which tormented her for years. In 1996, she found Falun Gong and started to practise. Her illnesses disappeared within a few months.

Three years ago, on March 10th, 2008, Ms. Jia's family of three took a taxicab to visit relatives, who lived on the outskirts of Baicheng City. They clarified the facts about Falun Gong to the taxi driver, but he had been deeply deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) propaganda and he reported them to the police. Officers from the Baicheng City Domestic Security Division arrested them, and also ransacked their home. Ms. Jia was physically abused and mistreated at the Baicheng City Detention Centre, which caused her to suffer from a relapse of her heart disease; she was subsequently released on bail. Thereafter, she and her family moved to Qinhuangdao City to avoid the police's constant harassment at home.

Three years later, Baicheng Domestic Security Division officers tracked Ms. Jia to Qinhuangdao City, collaborated with local police and arrested her again. The Taobei District Court of Baicheng City sentenced Ms. Jia to a four-year prison term. It has been discovered that the police plan to send her to the Changchun City Women's Prison.
