Seven practitioners from the Tongren Area of Guizhou Province were sentenced to prison: Mr. Jiang Qirong, to five years; Mr. Jiang's wife, three years; Jue Daoyin, four years; Ms. Huang Meixian, two years; Yao Xinping, two years; Ms. Long Zhenping, in her 40s, one and a half years; and Mr. Yang Hang, ten months.
In August 2010, many banners reading “Falun Gong is good!” “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” appeared in the Tongren Area. Local police arrested several practitioners, and some have been held in the Xieqiao Detention Centre in Tongren City.
Agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Yuping County and Dalong Town, along with local police, broke into practitioners' homes in the middle of the night. They arrested and took practitioners Huang Shouying, Zhou Yuxiang, Ma Xiangqun, Luo Hexiang, Pan Chunxiang, Tian Yuanmei, Yao Jinping, and others to Tongren City. The perpetrators also took practitioners' personal belongings worth over 10,000 yuan1.
Mr. Jiang Qirong from Yuping County was on the police wanted list since August 2010. He lived away from home to avoid persecution but was arrested in Hunan Province on November 16th. Ms. Yao Xinping and Huang Meixian were arrested on December 1st and released the next day, but they were arrested again and taken to the Dalong Town Brainwashing Centre on December 3rd. When their families went to deliver personal items for them on December 4th, they were told that the practitioners had been taken to the Wanshan Special Region Detention Centre.
Ms. Long Zhenping and a practitioner surnamed Wu from Tongren City were arrested and detained for speaking with people about Falun Gong in mid-November in Jiangkou County.
In early November, 610 Office agents in Tongren City, Yuping County, and Dalong Town, along with local police arrested and detained nearly 30 practitioners. The perpetrators held brainwashing sessions inside the Dalong Town Nursing Home for the practitioners.
Around September 2011, the practitioners who were held in the Tongren Detention Centre, Wanshan, and other places were put on trial. Seven of them were sentenced to imprisonment by the Tongren City Court.
