Chengdu Woman Arrested for Praising Falun Gong

About 6:00 p.m. on October 31st, two plainclothes police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Li Xiuying in her clothing store and took her to the Renmin East Road police station. They arrested her for telling her relatives in Jing village the truth about Falun Gong. Currently, Ms. Li is being detained at the Mianyang detention centre.

Ms. Li's daughter, Deng Yuping, is asking the international community to help rescue her mother. The following is Deng Yuping's letter calling for help.

“My mother, Li Xiuying, 41, a resident of Dongguang village, Jinjiang district in Chengdu city, started practising Falun Gong in 2008. Previously, my mother did not believe in Falun Gong. She had a serious heart problem, and often played mahjong.

One day in March 2008, my mother suffered a heart attack. She was having difficulty breathing and came close to losing her life. At the moment between life and death, she suddenly remembered that a friend had told her to say “Falun Gong is good! Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” After saying this, she slowly regained her breath. Afterward, she often exclaimed, “When I was near death, Falun Gong saved my life!”

After that, my mother's attitude about Falun Gong became entirely different. She started to pay attention whenever people talked about the facts of Falun Gong. Gradually, she was impressed by Falun Gong practitioners' selflessness. Thus, she began practising Falun Gong and became a dedicated practitioner. She rose up early to do Falun Gong exercises every morning regardless of how busy she was. She studied the Falun Gong teachings every day and told her customers about how she benefited from Falun Gong so that they would not be misled about Falun Gong. She also helped strangers who had financial difficulty. My mother became a warm hearted person. Everyone who knows her is full of praise about her.

However, such a good person is now behind bars at the Meinyang police station. I have to ask, where is heaven's justice? Kind-hearted people, please help my good and compassionate mother. Thank you! Thank you!”
