Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Meiying, in her sixties, from Longshan Town, Zhangjiachuan County, and Mr. Zhao Fuqiang, about 50, from Longcheng Town, Qin'an County, went to Wuying Town in Qin'an County on the evening of August 10th, 2011 to distribute materials explaining the facts about Falun Gong. Villagers who did not understand the truth blocked them and took them to the local police station. Ms. Wang and Mr. Zhao were later taken to the Qin'an County Detention Centre. They were recently transferred to an unknown location.
On August 11th, officers from Longcheng Town Police Station ransacked Mr. Zhao's home and confiscated his recorder, Falun Gong books, informational DVDs about Falun Gong, and other items. On the same day, officers from Qin'an County and Longshan Town Police Station broke into Ms. Wang's home and ransacked it. The officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang's husband, Mr. Zhang Run, was an employee of Zhangjiachuan County Water Authorities. He was sentenced to forced labour and dismissed from his workplace because he practised Falun Gong. He developed a severe eye disease while incarcerated in the forced labour camp. After he returned home, he underwent surgery. The surgery was unsuccessful and it caused blindness in both eyes. Ms. Wang has been taking care of him since. Qin'an County Detention Centre not only refused to release Ms. Wang, but also denied her family's visitation. Mr. Zhang's son was forced to take him to a nursing home.
