Ms. Wang Shuxia Beaten to Death in 2008 at Liaoning Province Women's Prison

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Shuxia, 45, was originally from Dagujia Township, Faku County, Liaoning Province. She lived in Hujia Village, Xiaonan Town (formerly called Tiefa Town), Diaobingshan City. Before she died she was persecuted numerous times for remaining steadfast in her belief and exercising her right to speak the truth. She once suffered a mental collapse as a result of severe physical abuse and torture under the persecution. She was sentenced and sent to Liaoning Province Women's Prison in Shenyang City on June 3rd, 2008. Only two days later, on June 5th, the prison guard notified local police that Wang had died.

When her family rushed there, her body was already cold and rigour mortis had set in, but they could still see the broken tissue around her mouth and bruises on her neck and chest. It was clear that she had been tortured to death.

At 4:00 p.m. on June 4th, 2008, Wang was sent to Division No.8, known as the “Devil Division,” in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Division head Meng Liying immediately handcuffed Ms. Wang because she refused to be “reformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] or to renounce her belief. Several criminal inmates started ruthlessly beating her. The torture did not stop until after midnight when Wang, in extreme pain and agony, asked to use the toilet. As soon as she squatted, she fell to the ground and died. A criminal witness said that Wang's genitalia were horribly mutilated as the result of gross physical abuse.

Within over eight hours after Wang was transferred to Division No.8, she died due to severe physical abuse. The guard on night shift duty that day was team leader Guo Guijie. Criminal inmates who participated in physically abusing Ms. Wang were Qin Shiqiu, Zhang Xiqi, Ma Haiying and Fan Jinping.

After Wang's death, division head Zuo Xiaoyan told criminals Qin Shiqiu and Zhang Xiqi to take the responsibility, and said their their sentences would be reduced if they agreed. Later, division head Meng Liying was only given a disciplinary warning, and criminals Qin Shiqiu and Zhang Siqi were placed in solitary confinement for seven days. Shortly after, Meng Liying was transferred to work in the Dadong District Judicial Bureau. Criminals Qin Shiqiu and Zhang Siqi had their sentences reduced.
