On November 12th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Xiaoli, from Jiaopo Town, Funan County, Anhui Province, was arrested at home by the head of Funan County Domestic Security Division, Zhang Xiaobo, and officers from Jiaopo Town Police Station. The police confiscated her computer and printer. Du has now been detained nearly four months. Intending to persecute her further, Funan County Police Department personnel have submitted the materials they prepared to sentence her to the Procuratorate.
Ms. Du is about 40 years old. She has three children, two of whom are still in school and the third has started working. Her husband works in another city and has to live away from home all year. After Du was arrested, her husband had to return home to take care of the family and also try to rescue his wife. Persecuted by the regime, life for this financially not well-off family has become even harder. The children also miss their mother very much.
Ms. Du's husband went to the Funan County Police Department to request the release of his wife. He told police how well his wife treated him and the family after she began practising Falun Gong. The head of the Domestic Security Division, Zhang Xiaobo, told him, “If you practise Falun Gong, I will also arrest you.” Ms. Du's husband answered, “I didn't practise Falun Gong before. However, I may begin practising now.”
