Recently, several Falun Gong practitioners were invited to introduce Falun Gong to inmates and guards at a prison in Jakarta. They first showed short video programmes introducing Falun Gong and its popularity around the world. Then they taught the inmates and guards the Falun Gong exercises. They also introduced Zhuan Falun and explained the importance of reading Falun Dafa books in order to understand and follow the principles Truth-Compassion-Forbearance.
On May 1th3, 1992, Master Li introduced Falun Dafa to the public for the first time. While teaching the practice, Master Li never discriminated against anyone due to their background, education, profession, race, gender, religion or age. Everyone is welcome to learn.
Now Falun Dafa is practised in over 70 countries around the world, and practitioners continue to voluntarily share the practice with others. In introducing Falun Dafa, practitioners are also happy to teach it to anyone who wants to learn, including prisoners.

When practising the second exercise, many inmates had signs of body purification similar to those mentioned in Zhuan Falun. Many found it hard to complete the second set in which one holds the arms up in various position for several minutes. During discussion after the class, one inmate said he had lots of saliva running in his mouth up to his nostrils and had to go to the restroom. A practitioner told him it was a good sign, indicating body purification. Some inmates used to take drugs and other restricted substances.
An inmate in his 60s said with tears in his eyes, “When I saw the words Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, I wept, as I realised this is what I have been waiting for.” He talked about how he ended up in prison. After the discussion, he saved the introductory flyer as a treasure and whispered, “I will be free in a few months. I will look for practice sites nearby to join the practice.”
The atmosphere of the event was harmonious. A prison official thanked the practitioners for their attentiveness while teaching the inmates.
