Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wei Chaohai and his son, Wei Bin, from Jiangyou, Sichuan Province, were both imprisoned and persecuted in Deyang Prison. Reports indicate that Mr. Wei and his son, along with other practitioners, were transferred to Aba Prison in order to undergo continued persecution.
In 2002, Mr. Wei Bin was arrested and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. He was held in Deyang Prison from 2004 through September 2005, where he was subjected to several methods of torture, including brutal beatings, being forced to stand for extended periods while facing the scorching sun during summer, etc.
In September 2005, Mr. Wei Bin, Yang Yourun, and four other practitioners refused to cooperate with the prison authorities' attempts at “transformation” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. They were then held in solitary confinement in the third supervision unit and subjected to continued persecution.
In February 2007, Deyang Prison warden Liu Yuanhang ordered all supervision units to set up a so-called “fortification group” (made up of inmates), which was used specifically to help them “transform” practitioners. Officers from the third supervision unit ordered Jiang Dunji, Yang Wei, and two others prisoners to form the “four thugs group,” whose task was to torture Mr. Wei and other practitioners.
In September 2009, Mr. Wei's father, Wei Chaohai was also arrested, and sentenced to seven years. In 2011, he was transferred to Deyang Prison and subjected to continued persecution.
