Mr. Deng Jiangang in Critical Condition after Being Tortured in Wumaping Prison

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Deng Jiangang, from Pengshan County, Sichuan Province, was persecuted for four years in Wumaping Prison, Leshan. His physical condition deteriorated and he began to vomit blood. Mr. Deng was sent to Jianwei Hospital in Leshan on May 4th. However, his health condition was so serious that the local hospital could not provide any medical treatment. He was transferred to the Sichuan Province Judicial Police General Hospital at 5 p.m. that same day.

Mr. Deng was completely healthy when he was first sent to the hospital. Only one week later, he began to suffer a mental collapse and now he is in critical condition. However, even after he lost consciousness, his four limbs were still forcibly tied to a bed so that he could not move.

Sichuan Province Judicial Police General Hospital claimed that they had reported Mr. Deng's critical condition to Wumaping Prison. But when they were asked when Mr. Deng would be released, the prison officials never gave a clear answer and would only say that the release process was very complicated. However, some police officers from the Sichuan Province Judicial Police General Hospital said: Mr. Deng was only diagnosed with tuberculosis, which is not serious enough for him to be released. The prison also claimed that because he had not been “transformed,” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] he could not be released on bail.

Because he practises Falun Gong, Mr. Deng has been persecuted many times by Chinese Communist Party agents. His wife, Ms. Jiang Xiantao, is also a Falun Gong practitioner and has been sentenced to a forced labour camp. Due to the persecution, their young daughter had to drop out of school and they all live a very hard life.

Falun Gong Practitioners Killed

Under 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) orders, the Sichuan Province Political and Judiciary Committee and the Wumaping Prison and Sichuan Province Judicial Police General Hospital are planning and carrying out the torture and deaths of Falun Gong practitioners.

Zhu Wei, the current head of Wumaping Prison, told the prison guards that they must do whatever it takes in order to achieve the brainwashing or “transformation” of practitioners. Soon after Zhu Wei became the head of Wumaping Prison in September, 2006, ten Falun Gong practitioners died as a result of persecution and torture. They are Zhao Guiji, Liu Tianhou, Zhang Xingcai, Zhang Kunyang, Li Yuanrong, Feng Zhongliang, Gao Guangchong, Jiang Yunhong, Liu Xueming, and Xu Langzhou.

When Mr. Deng Jiangang was sent to Jinyang Xinhua Forced Labour Camp, the police ordered the inmates to torture him. Four of his ribs were fractured, the vertebrae in his spine were ruptured, and fluid leaked from his body. Mr. Deng was sentenced to five years of forced labour in September, 2008. At that time, he was diagnosed with desperate phthisis, and Wumaping Prison would not accept him. But the Sichuan Province Political and Judiciary Committee and the 610 Office were determined and pressured the prison. In November, 2008, they succeeded and Mr. Deng was sent to Wumaping Prison.

At the prison, Mr. Deng developed a pleural effusion as a result of being mistreated and abused. Later he was sent to the hospital in Chengdu. Afterward, the prison was not willing to take him back, and he was sent to Pengshan Detention Centre. Then, the Domestic Security Division sent him back to the prison again. He has recently started to vomit blood and his life is in danger. When prison personnel called his family on April 13th, 2012, they requested that he be immediately be released.

The heads of Pengshan County 610 Office, Zhang Zhichun and Yang Haixia, told Pengxi County Police Station to arrest and persecute Ms. Jiang Xiantao. Around 9:00 on the morning of April 15th, 2012, seven or eight police came to Ms. Jiang's home and wanted to take her to Meishan City Brainwashing Centre.
