Jia Zhijiang and Wife Li Rongmei Arrested, Their Young Son Now on His Own

The parents of 14-year-old Jia Shuo, an elementary school student, were both arrested by the police in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. The family had come to Shijiazhuang City to work and make a living.

Jia Shuo's parents are both Falun Gong practitioners. His father, Jia Zhijiang, is a chef and his mother, Li Rongmei, worked at a pharmacy. The couple followed the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and never did anything illegal. On the day Jia Zhijiang was arrested, Jia Shuo cried to the police, “My dad is a good person. He didn't steal, he didn't rob, and he didn't kill or commit arson. Why are you doing this to him?”

In 2008 during the Olympics, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) conducted massive arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Jia and his wife were both detained. Ms. Li was detained in a forced labour camp for one year and Mr. Jia was forced to leave home. In order to avoid persecution. The family eventually came to Shijiazhuang City. Because they practise Falun Gong and are good people that live by Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, they have now been arrested again.

Unknown Whether Jia Zhijiang Is Dead or Alive

A little after 9 p.m. on August 13th, 2012, people came knocking on the door claiming to be the property management staff. The family wouldn't open the door, and there was a standoff for over an hour. The property owner was finally forced to open the door, and seven or eight police officers from the Donghuan Police Station and the Yuhua Police Department of Shijiazhuang City broke into the house and arrested Jia Zhijiang. They also took his laptop, camcorder etc. After they ransacked the home, they showed their search warrant and tried to force Mr. Jia's wife, Ms. Li Rongmei, to sign it. She refused, and the property owner was then forced to sign. Threatened by the police, the property owner then told Li Rongmei to move out within a week.

The next evening, Ms. Li was very worried and took her son with her to the Donghuan Police Station to look for her husband. Police officer Shi Jiangbo said, “I cannot tell you where he is.” Ms. Li and her son ran back and forth for an entire day, searching everywhere possible, eventually learning that Jia Zhijiang was detained in the Shijiazhuang City No. 1 Detention Centre, where he was showing symptoms of heart disease. Later, Jia Zhijiang again “disappeared,” and it is not clear whether he is dead or alive.

Donghuan Police Station Traps Ms. Li, Her Son Now on His Own

On the morning of August 19th, Donghuan Police Station officer Shi Jiangbo went to Mr. Jia's family and told Li Rongmei that she could visit her husband, but that she needed to wait in the police station. She waited until noon and then said she wanted to go home. The police lied to her and made her stay longer. In the afternoon, when she said she could not wait any longer, she was detained by force. Li Rongmei protested from 7 p.m. until about 8 p.m., until she was taken away in a car. Now, nobody knows her whereabouts.

The Donghuan and Yuhua police first arrested the father, then threatened the property owner to end the lease. Within a couple of days they captured the mother, and the 14-year-old boy is now left on his own.

Harassment

About two months before the above arrests, police from the Donghuan Police Station had visited Mr. Jia's home. They threatened him, telling him to move out as soon as possible. At the same time, officials from the Yuhua District Zhuodong Police Station went to the hotel where Mr. Jia worked and threatened him there, telling him to quit and not to work in their district. Even so, Jia Zhijiang not only didn't complain, but instead told the police with a compassionate heart about his physical and mental improvements after practising Falun Gong, hoping they could understand the truth. When he was arrested, he told the police not to persecute good people and to think about their own families and children.

Cultivating Falun Gong Cured Infertility

In 1994 Mr. Jia was diagnosed with a male reproductive disease. Financially and mentally he was troubled and burdened.

He spent all his income on trying to cure his disease. The medical experts confirmed that he could not have children and the best they could do was to stabilise the situation so that it would not get worse. In 1996 Jia Zhijiang occasionally heard about Falun Gong and thought that Truth-Compassion-Forbearance was very good. Eventually he started to practise. In the past he had always resented losing face and thought about retaliating. After he started cultivating in Falun Gong, he understood the high standard of being a human and got rid of those bad thoughts and developed a much broader mindset. Gradually he even forgot about his disease.

In 1997 Jia Zhijiang got married. Not long after, Li Rongmei got pregnant. Mr. Jia clearly understood that this was a benefit of practising Falun Gong. His infertility was cured without his even knowing it. His toothaches and headaches were also cured.

After Understanding the Truth, Ms. Li Stops Preventing Her Husband from Practising and Becomes a Cultivator Herself

After the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, due to the pressure, Ms. Li did not want her husband to practise any longer, no matter what. Mr. Jia then told her that he originally could not have children and that Falun Gong had given them their son. This fact was a shock to her. After that, not only didn't she stop him, she also started practising Falun Gong.

Their son, Jia Shuo, was very sweet. While he was still a baby wrapped in a blanket, whenever he stuck out his little hands, they were in the lotus palm position, the same as in the Falun Gong exercise practice. He was healthy and sensible. Occasionally he caught a cold but he would quickly recover after listening to Falun Gong lecture recordings. Mr. Jia said, “After cultivating, Falun Gong gave me a child.”

Tortured and Forced to Leave Home, Mr. Jia Clarifies the Truth with Compassion and Rescues His Wife

During the Olympics in China, the CCP arrested and persecuted many Falun Gong practitioners. In June 2008 the couple were arrested by Li Zhaohua and plainclothes police from the National Security Team of Huailai County, Hebei Province. Mr. Jia was beaten, and four or five of his teeth were knocked out. His chest also hurt very badly. Miraculously, though, he got away. They then intensified their persecution of Ms. Li, torturing her with handcuffs, shackles, a black hood over her head, the iron chair, etc. Twice, she passed out. Later she was detained in a forced labour camp for one year.
