Concerning the ongoing trial against Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong

My name is Malin. I am 36 years old and I live in Sweden with my husband and our children. I have been practising Falun Gong for 4 years, and I would like to share with you a little bit of how it has changed my life and how I look at the ongoing trial against Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong.

Ten years ago I got rheumatoid arthritis, a severe joint disease. I could hardly walk and I was in constant pain. As there is no cure for this I was left with taking drugs for the rest of my life. This thought did not appeal to me so I started to look for other ways of healing myself. For a period of 6 years I tried all kinds of different alternative therapies, but nothing would help me for more than a short period of time and then the symptoms and the pain would come back.

In 1998 I received a book called “Zhuan Falun” written by a man called Li Hongzhi. Reading this book completely changed my life. This was the first time I read something that could explain in a rational way why we get ill. I have studied medicine and could understand what Li Hongzhi talked about from a scientific perspective. It also gave me answers about life and the universe that I had been looking for. Everything is explained in a very rational, clear and scientific way.

I learned the exercises and read the book again, and in a very short time my pain disappeared. But this practice did not only give me my physical health back, it also made me feel a lot better mentally. This practice teaches you to live according to Truth, Compassion and Forbearance, and to always think of others before yourself. As a result I feel more happy and harmonious, am more tolerant and care more about others. I can take the difficulties in life in a much better way than before. Over the years I have met many Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world, and they are all very kind and caring human beings.

Since the horrible persecution against Falun Gong practitioners was started in 1999 by Jiang Zemin, I have, together with thousands of other practitioners, organised and been a part of peaceful appeals in Sweden and around the world. These appeals have always been calm and peaceful and we have very good relations with the police. All we want is to open the world’s eyes to the crimes against humanity that are going on in China, and we only appeal to all kind-hearted people in the world to help stop this terrible persecution that has been going on for over 3 years. We are not interested in politics, only in human rights.

Jiang Zemin has spread his slanderous propaganda about Falun Gong all over the world in an attempt to justify his horrible crimes. However, no other country in the world has followed his example. On the contrary, they see the benefits this practice gives to both individuals and the society as a whole. Which leader would not want citizens with high morality, healthy bodies and who follow Truth, Compassion and Forbearance? As a result Falun Gong is freely practised in over 50 countries around the world.

I strongly feel that this trial against the sixteen Falun Gong practitioners is another attempt by Jiang Zemin to justify his crimes to the world. It is based on false accusations and it should never have taken place. Jiang Zemin wants to eradicate millions of people who try to be good, and he uses every means to do so. The question is; who wants to be a part of his horrible deeds? In the future he will have to stand trial, as every criminal has to, for everything that he has done, and the whole world will know.
