Most students were willing to sign our petition to show support and encouragement. But we also encountered a few new immigrants from China who started yelling at us because they had been misled by the propaganda before coming here. A practitioner peacefully related his own personal experiences to one of these Chinese people about how he benefited from practising Falun Gong. He told the new immigrant that while the head of China's regime is persecuting and making up fabrications about Falun Gong in China, Falun Gong is gaining more and more popularity in the rest of the world. Gradually, this young man became more and more relaxed and he ended up saying, "Falun Gong is not [bad] after all." Some new immigrants from China were very surprised to learn the truth about Falun Gong here. Some eagerly asked for truth-clarifying CDs and materials.
An employee of the local Amnesty International Office in Vancouver immediately signed the petition for us after he learned about the persecution that is going on in China. He even offered to help and support Falun Gong in the future. What touched us most was a Caucasian girl who was about 17 or 18 years old and could not speak or hear. Although she could not communicate with us directly, after she read our truth-clarifying flyers, she not only signed our petition letter but also wrote the following words on a little notebook she pulled from her bag:
"I know what is happening in China now. The persecution is very wrong and terrible. I know what China's leader has done to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. I also know Falun Gong is good. I hope I will start practising Falun Gong later this year and become one of you."
We were deeply moved, and would like to wish this young lady a magnificent future!
