On the afternoon of October 1, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners attended the 50th annual Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo parade in Waco, which is in central Texas. The practitioners' procession was highly praised by the local people. The fair celebration began with a parade in the downtown area
At 5:30 pm on October 1, the parade set off from Waco City Hall. More than 150 organisations including Falun Gong practitioners attended the parade. Two practitioners holding a big yellow banner imprinted with "Falun Dafa" led the procession. A team of female practitioners dressed in beautiful "flying fairy" costumes followed. Holding colourful fans in their hands, they performed the Chinese Traditional Fan Dance. Spectators were especially fond of their graceful performance and gave them round upon round of applause. Practitioners dressed in yellow T-shirts handed out Dafa truth-clarifying flyers along the route, which people happily and gratefully accepted. What was especially touching was that while accepting the flyers, some children even did Heshi (i.e., pressed their hands together in front of their chests), which is a hand gesture to express thankfulness.
It was still hot in October in Texas, but practitioners who drove long distances to join the parade did not feel tired at all. Seeing so many people learning about Dafa, they smiled happily.
