Amnesty International Urge the European Union to Stand up against the Chinese Communist Party’s Suppression of Falun Gong and Minority Nationalities

International Human Rights Organization urged the European Union on Monday [23rd] to take an uncompromising stand to oppose the Chinese government’s suppression of Falun Gong and minority nationalities.

According to AP news on 23rd September, Chinese premier Zhu Rongji, who was participating in the Fourth Conference of European and Asian Leaders in Copenhagen, would meet the European Union’s leaders on Tuesday [24th] to discuss political and economic issues, including human rights.

The reports of Amnesty International pointed out that human rights in Mainland China have been steadily deteriorating. Torture and abuse of suspects are common and systematic in China. Recently, death sentences and executions also witnessed a rapid increase. It is said that in China savage torture and torment are widespread. Mr. Murkaust, chief of the liaison office stationed at the European Union said the pressure the European Union puts on China should not be escapable.

Mr. Kelith, Chief commissioner responsible for foreign affairs of the European Union recognized in a recent speech that the fearful violence of human rights really exists in China; the high amount of death penalties is unconceivable.
