UK: Telling People the Facts About Dafa in Cambridge City Centre

From 18th to 20th of October, Cambridge was home to a “Chinese Cambridge” weekend with different events celebrating Chinese culture. This attracted many Chinese people to the area and Dafa practitioners realised that this is a valuable and important opportunity to tell many Chinese people the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. In Mainland China, Jiang Zemin’s regime controls all forms of media and uses them to enforce their wicked propaganda and deceive the Chinese people. For many Chinese tourists and students, the short time they spend in England could be their only chance to learn the truth about Jiang’s brutal reign of terror and the suffering it has brought to over 100 million innocent people.

Practitioners set up a stall in the centre of Cambridge on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of October. They practised the Falun Dafa exercises and handed out leaflets. Large posters displayed the truth about the Jiang regime’s wicked persecution and the atrocities that they have been enforcing both in China and in Europe. Smaller copies of these posters were available for interested people to take away with them and read at home. Many people showed deep sympathy and concern for the persecuted practitioners in China and signed their names on a petition calling for an immediate end to these terrors.

Cambridge is famous for its language teaching facilities and therefore attracts a lot of new Chinese students every year. However, these new students have all been taken advantage of by Jiang’s regime before they left China and told not to accept anything from or communicate with the Dafa practitioners that they may meet in other countries. This has created some difficulty for practitioners attempting to tell the truth to these innocent Chinese students. However, with righteous thoughts in mind and a true concern for the well-being of these people, practitioners managed to clarify the truth of the persecution to many of them and a large number of them were willing to accept the leaflets and VCDs.

Many western people approached the Falun Dafa stall and asked for details of the local exercise site. They revealed how they have been searching for something like Dafa for a long time and were happy to find it. One man from California said that he would go and meet the practitioners there as soon as he returned to the USA. A girl from Taiwan gathered all the material that she could in both Chinese and English to read when she got back to her Cambridge University room. A large group of children saw pictures of the persecuted practitioners in China and said that they were very shocked and upset by Jiang’s persecution. They all signed their names on the petition and immediately asked to learn the Falun Gong exercises. One practitioner taught them the exercises and they all left very happy. They said that it was terrible that thousands of people have been tortured and killed just for doing the simple exercises that they had just learned.
