Discrimination Due to Chinese Embassy's Pressure is Broadly Reported by Major French Media
2004-02-08From January 15 to 26, most major French media including AFP, Le Parisien, L'Humanit, Le Monde, Le Nouvel Observateur and Témoignage Chrétien revealed that the Chinese officials in France had put pressure on Paris to discriminate against Falun Gong. Some revealed that the Chinese regime went as far as threatening to cancel all the New Year activities in Paris if Falun Gong was allowed to participate. And what it meant was that the Chinese consulate was ready to cancel a 210,000 Euros contract with Paris City just to make sure no Falun Gong practitioner would be seen on the spot. -

It mentioned the "very violent" repression of Falun Gong in China. The article concluded that the absence of Falun Gong from the official parade in Paris displayed once again how hard the Chinese regime strives to hide its crimes and show foreigners a flawless image of the country. -
French National TV reports on Falun Gong's Peaceful Appeal during Chinese Official’s Visit
2004-02-06On January 27th 2004, French national television station TV 5 reported on a Falun Gong appeal held in front of the French National Assembly, while Chinese president was giving a speech to half of the country’s MPs, as the others had boycotted him. The journalists emphasised the severity of the persecution against Falun Gong in China. -
French National Newspaper Reports How Chinese Leaders’ Dislike of Seeing Falun Gong Caused Paris Traffic Jam
2004-02-05On January 30th, 2004, Major National newspaper Le Figaro published an article entitled "Monstrous Traffic Jam during Hu Jintao's visit". The article revealed how Chinese Officials were so afraid to see brochures on persecution in China that they demanded that several major roads in Paris be closed during their official visit. During the few days of the President's visit, the majority of Parisioners felt that it was overly-extreme of the French authorities to enforce extra and extreme security measures to meet the demands of the Chinese president. -

France: Media Coverage of Jiang's Persecution Exported from China to Paris
2004-02-03On January 22nd 2004, a journalist working for Yahoo France conducted a long interview with two French Falun Gong practitioners about the pressure exerted by the Chinese regime on French authorities, forcing them to exclude Falun Gong from the Chinese New Year Parade in Paris. The journalist took the opportunity to say that Falun Gong is a peaceful method, and that the main person responsible for the persecution in China is former leader Jiang Zemin, who is now being sued for genocide in several European countries. -
French National Paper Liberation Reports on Lawsuit Filed Against Chinese Minister
2004-02-02On January the 28th 2004, the French national newspaper Libération reported on Falun Gong practitioners' legal actions against Chinese Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng. The lawsuit filed by practitioners in France accuses him of the crime of Torture in his involvement in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Mr. Sun was accompanying President Hu Jintao on a state visit to France when the case was filed. -

AFP: Taiwanese Falun Gong [Practitioners] Protest Police Harassment in France
2004-02-01'The group [...] demanded Taiwan's foreign ministry relay a strong protest to Paris over what it called an "unreasonable and unlawful" act infringing on the basic rights and freedom of its members. "They were checked by French police on the streets just because they were wearing yellow scarves. The police could not give them any proper reasons, except (for) saying 'yellow scarves are illegal in France today'," Chang Chin-Hwa, a spokeswoman for Taiwan Falun Dafa, or Falun Gong, told AFP.'
