  • Five Practitioners in Cang County, Hebei Province Were Sentenced

    On May 8th, 2009, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court in Cang County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province sentenced five Falun Gong practitioners. Pu Jinfeng was sentenced to six years, Zhao Junfeng five years, Zhang Kanzhong four years and six months, Li Bing'an four years, and Liu Rujun three years and six months. At the beginning of March, 2009, Cang County Procuratorate made up charges and sent this fabricated case to Cang County court. The court then set a trial date for March 24th.
  • Zhang Min in Huaihua City of Hunan Province Was Persecuted During the Beijing Olympic Games

    On May 22nd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Min was arrested by police and her home ransacked. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Huaihua Brainwashing Centre. In the brainwashing centre, she was forced to write the three statements to give up Falun Gong. After being detained for a month, the 610 Office staff extorted 15,000 Yuan from Zhang's husband as a "guarantee deposit" and demanded that he sign a guarantee statement before he could take his wife back home. After Zhang was released, she was still closely monitored and harassed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members at her work place.
  • Police in Baoshan District, Shanghai Arrest and Gag Innocent People with Plastic Bags

    On April 25th, 2009, several police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qian Yuhua's home, held her to the ground and handcuffed her. Her daughter-in-law held on to her mother-in-law to prevent her from being taken away. The police grabbed her barbarically, then handcuffed and arrested her daughter-in-law. The police were afraid that the neighbours might be alarmed if the two women protested the arrest loudly, so they covered their mouths with plastic bags, making it difficult for them to breathe. Ms. Qian Yuhua was taken to the Baoshan District Detention Centre.
  • Two Female Farmers in Shandong Province Wrongfully Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    On January 2nd, 2009, Ms. Jiang Xiumei and Ms. Cui Xiuhua, two farmers from Laixi City, Shandong Province, were arrested and sentenced to a forced labour camp for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Because Jiang Xiumei is nearly seventy, the labour camp refused to take her. Cui Xiuhua however, is being tortured in the labour camp. After Ms. Cui Xiuhua was arrested, the police would not allow her family to visit, nor did they tell them her whereabouts. They even extorted over two hundred yuan from her family.
  • Mr. Shi Xiaochun, Practitioner from Heilongjiang Province, Sentenced to Forced Labour Five Times

    On April 10th, 2008, officers from the Qianjin Police Station in Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province broke into 48-year-old Mr. Shi Xiaochun's home. They ransacked his home and arrested him. On May 21st, 2008, his family received notice of his sentence of forced labour. He was sent to the Suihua Forced Labour Camp on the same day. Mr. Shi has suffered through many periods of detention and various torture methods since the persecution of Falun Gong began. This has left his family in turmoil as well.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Chen Changyuan Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    While distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, Mr. Chen Changyuan was seized by police in July 2008. On April 29th 2009, Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years in prison by the Chengdu Gaoxin District Court in Sichuan Province. Only three family members were allowed in the courtroom. During the trial, the judge frequently interrupted the defence lawyer and his client's statements. Furthermore, Mr. Chen's wife was not allowed to speak. The situation was so unjust that she decided to leave the courtroom. After Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years of imprisonment, he indicated that he would appeal the ruling.
  • Three Children Left to Fend for Themselves with Mother Detained and Father Driven Mad

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Lianhua was arrested by the police in 2008 while she was making leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Baodi District. She is currently being detained in the Tianjin Women Prison. Wei Lianhua's husband has met with great difficulties since his wife suffered this persecution. Due to the pressure of making a living for himself and his three children, he had to ask the local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials to return the 8,000 yuan they had borrowed from him and had not repaid for several years. However, the local officials refused, claiming they did not have the funds. suffering a nervous breakdown, with his wife in jail and unable to support his family. The three children have to now fend for themselves.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Tried by Jinshantun Court in Yichun City

    On December 1st, 2008, three practitioners were arrested by police for possessing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Police also ransacked their homes and interrogated them, attempting to extort confessions. During the interrogation, Mr. Zhang Peixun lost consciousness twice due to brutal beatings. Their families hired six lawyers to defend these innocent practitioners. After six months of detention, the three practitioners were brought to trial at Jinshantun Court. Bystanders outside the court remarked, "Even a murder trial is not as heavily guarded as this!" The dossier presented by the prosecution was unknown to the defence lawyers, who protested, "This is against the law."
  • Police Arrest 60 Year-old Disabled Practitioner Ms. Zhen Zhixian from Qian'an City, Hebei Province

    On May 11th, 2009, police arrested 60-year-old practitioner Ms. Zhen Zhixian. In late 2008, the police had arrested Ms. Zhen. At the brainwashing centre, policeman Ha Fulong slapped Ms. Zhen on the face and tortured her in many other ways. The brutal treatment caused Ms. Zhen's health to deteriorate. Seven days later, Ms. Zhen appeared to be paralysed. The police feared being held responsible for their actions, and so told Ms. Zhen's family to hand over 10,000 yuan and pick her up. When the family came, they found Ms. Zhen paralysed. When she was arrested again this year, her health had not fully recovered.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners on Hunger Strike in Fushun City

    Since April 17th of this year, more than a dozen practitioners in Fushun City, Liaoning Province have been arrested. It is believed that they are being held at the Fushun City Detention Centre. Many of them have gone on a hunger strike to counter the persecution. Further details are unknown at this time as police have not allowed any information about them to be released and have denied family visits. Police officers covered the practitioners' entire heads with black cloth bags when they arrested them.
  • Ms. Xu Deqin Arrested; Her Husband Dies from Stress

    On March 28th, 2003, police stormed into Ms. Xu Deqin's home to arrest her in Weifang City, Shandong Province. They ransacked the place and took many valuable items. Ms. Xu's husband was extremely stressed by such a violent incident, causing him to suffer heart failure. The police released Ms. Xu after extorting 5,000 yuan from her family. Unfortunately, her husband never recovered, and died on May 11th, 2003.
  • Recent Unjust Court Sentences in Hanzhong

    On May 13th, 2009, the Hantai District Court sentenced four Falun Gong practitioners to prison without informing their lawyers or families. Yang Hua was sentenced to nine years in prison. Wu Yali and Ye Hao were each sentenced to five years in prison, and Li Qingmeng was sentenced to four years in prison. The practitioners wished to appeal, but presiding judge Yan Xu made the verdict confidential. He said, "If you want to look at the verdict, ask the guards at Hantai Detention Centre. I cannot give the verdict to you." Mr. Lian, vice president of the court, also said, "You are Falun Gong practitioners. We were informed by our supervisions that we cannot give the verdict to you directly."
  • Ms. Tang Xingrong from Sichuan Province Sentenced to Five Years in Jail

    Ms. Tang Xingrong, 39, has been sentenced to a five-year imprisonment by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel from the local police station, the Procuratorate, and the court. She was arrested and taken to the Longquanyi Women's Prison in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province on March 1st, 2009. In the detention centre police from Panzhihua National Security Division handcuffed her, hung her up and then beat her. The evildoers also burned her face with cigarettes. On January 18th or 19th, 2009, prison guards tortured Ms. Tang with the tiger bench method and "dead person's bed," because she refused to wear the prison uniform.
  • Even After Her Family Was Devastated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Ms. Fen Xiaomei Was Arrested Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Xiaomei was arrested on April 27th, and is being detained at the Shijiazhuan City Police Station. Her whole family steadfastly cultivated in Falun Gong and abided by Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and, as a result, were persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. Police sent Ms. Feng's husband to Shijiazhuan Forced Labour Camp for two years. He was badly traumatized there and was extremely weak by the time he was released in November 2002. He died on October 9th 2003, at the age of 39. Ms. Feng's younger sister was also tortured by police. She was forced to stay away from home and died in 2004.
  • Mr. Shao Xingbao and His Wife Persecuted by the Jiaonan City 610 Office

    Mr. Shao Xingbao was sentenced to four years in prison by the Jiaonan City Court on April 24th, 2009. On the afternoon of May 8th, his wife, Ms. Wang Lifang, was arrested by the Beijing Road Police Station. Mr. Shao was previously arrested and sentenced to prison for practising Falun Gong. He was arrested again in the afternoon on February 24th, 2009, by the Beijing Road Police. His wife, Ms. Wang, asked to visit him many times at the police station, detention centre, and police department. She was turned away each time. The Jiaonan City Court did not disclose the April 8th court date to Mr. Shao's family.
