8. In December 2001, guards Lai Zhonghui and Zhang Bo put Dafa practitioner Zuo Guoqing, who was detained in the No. 2 Division, on the "Tiger Bench." [see illustration on http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html] They handcuffed and chained Zuo Guoqing to the bench, sealed his mouth with tape and circled the tape around his head a dozen times. They didn't allow him to talk, drink or eat. At 6:00 p.m., the guards pulled Zuo Guoqing off the bench, stripped him completely naked and in a humiliating fashion conducted a so-called "security search." Then they brutally tortured him with "tying the ropes." [The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police would use all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm] They force-fed him with highly indigestible concentrated salt water, which severely injured Zuo's oesophagus and caused him prolonged chest pain. With righteous belief in Dafa, Zuo Guoqing firmly persevered in his faith in Falun Dafa.
The authorities in the labour camp order prisoners to closely monitor everything Dafa practitioners do. Practitioners are not allowed to even bend their legs to sit in bed, nor are they allowed to do the Falun Dafa exercises. Because he could not do the Dafa exercises and study Dafa, in March 2002, Zuo Guoqing was in a perilous condition. The labour camp officials forcibly took him to a hospital for treatment, where a total of about four litres of fluids was drawn from Zuo's chest. The hospital warned that Zuo was on the verge of death, and the labour camp finally released him.
9. On April 25, 2002, several Dafa practitioners held a second hunger strike to protest the brutal persecution against Falun Gong. On April 26, administrative section chief Han Qingshan, along with No. 1 division chiefs Lai Zhonghui and Wang Yingzhou, and guard Chi used "tying the ropes" on Dafa practitioners. The thugs also beat and kicked practitioners in front of everyone and force-fed them. Because Zhuang Gangxiang firmly resisted the persecution, he was tortured with the "Tiger Bench" and locked up in solitary confinement for seven days. At the same time, a so-called "reform in 100 days" propaganda movement was launched in the camp, reflecting a trend seen in labour camps across Heilongjiang Province. The enforcers of this "reform movement" instigated the prisoners to torture Dafa practitioners. It was learned that the labour camp gave the order, "no matter what method is used, whoever from among the prisoners reforms a Dafa practitioner will be rewarded with three to six months of sentence reduction." Practitioners were often dragged into the toilet and the prisoners, aiding and abetting the authorities, brutally beat the practitioners, mainly hitting the practitioners' vital organs. The prisoners said no outward injury would be observed if internal organs are damaged. If some organs were injured, the prisoners would then force the practitioners to take medication, and brutally beaten up after they threw up the pills. Sometimes their call for help could be heard in the middle of the night.
The thugs at the No.2 division in Daqing City Labour Camp have never changed their evil ways. On July 2, 2002, they brutally tortured Dafa practitioner Sui Honghai and permanently disabled his right arm. Sui Honghai, was illegally detained in Daqing City Labour Camp on July 2, 2002. Right after Sui Honghai arrived at the No. 2 division, division chief Wang Zhonghe, guards Wang Gang, Wang Xichun and Zhang Mingzhu attempted to force him to write a "guarantee statement" but Sui Honghai firmly refused. Chief Wang Zhonghe ordered the three guards to torture him with the method called "tying the ropes." Twenty minutes later, the rope bore into his flesh and witnesses said Sui Honghai's face became pale. They immediately reported this to labour camp officials. By this time Sui Honghai had lost consciousness. The guards chased away all witnesses and sent Sui Honghai to a clinic. His injury was too serious and he was transferred to the People's Hospital. His right upper arm was diagnosed as having sustained a bone fracture, for the rope had been forced onto him so tightly that it broke his right collarbone. Twenty days later, Sui Honghai was escorted back to the No. 2 division with a steel rod in his right arm. Because his injury was too serious, he needed a second operation. Sui Honghai's right arm has been completely disabled.
In the No. 1 division, practitioner Zhuang Gangxiang was nearly paralysed but was still forced to sit on the "Tiger Bench." During this time, prisoner Zhang Chengcai poked the practitioner's head with the tip of a ballpoint pen and injured him badly. Practitioner Bai Xuchang was confined in solitary detention for four months. Cruel prisoner Xing Lidong deliberately poured boiling water over Dafa practitioner Gao's left thigh, scalding it badly. Several Dafa practitioners in the No. 3 division were beaten and became unconscious, and some were even stuffed under the bed.
10. After late September 2002, in order to reach the "100% reformed rate" ordered by Jiang's regime, the labour camp divided the regular cells into smaller cells. Each small cell holds four people; three prisoners would attack one Dafa practitioner in the cell, and the practitioners suffered even more brutal persecution.
In October, deputy labour camp chief Wang Yongxiang tried to force practitioners to give up their faith by using torture. The labour camp set up solitary confinement cells especially prepared for Falun Gong practitioners. As soon as the practitioners are sent into the small cells, they would torture the practitioners with all kinds of brutal means, day and night. At the same time, they instigated the prisoners to torture Dafa practitioners and force them to give up their faith by promising the prisoners sentence reductions.
Thugs led by Wang Yingzhou, deputy chief of the No. 1 division who called himself a demon from hell, ordered prisoners Zhao Jinfa and Xing Guoshu to torture practitioner Guo Fadong. They forbade him from sleeping and poured cold water on him. They poured 200 basins of cold water at day and 200 more at night; this torture lasted as long as ten days.
The thugs in the No. 2 division, led by deputy chief Zhang Mingzhu, used even more brutal means. They pinned the practitioners down on a metal chair and poked them with needles. They would poke the practitioner if he or she refused to "compromise." During the chill of winter in the north, deputy chief Zhang Mingzhu ordered the thugs to open all the doors and windows of the washroom so the freezing air would creep in. They then stripped the practitioners naked and tied up their hands and feet. They pushed the practitioners into the washroom and poured cold water on them. The practitioners suffered greatly and were in extreme pain.
They used another torture method, which was to strip practitioners naked, tie them to a metal chair and force them to sit on a rod. According to thug Yang Chunyu, who often used this torture method, ordinary people cannot stand this past half an hour. Practitioner Zhang Shenghui had cold water poured on him for six hours and passed out twice. Later, he was stripped naked, tied to the chair and forced to sit on the rod.
11. On December 23, 2002, Dafa practitioner He Huajiang was sent to a labour camp. He was sent into solitary confinement right after he arrived. The guards brutally tortured him, hoping to force him to give up his faith in Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. He passed away from torture that afternoon. His son went to see him at around 1:00 a.m. and found him dead and barefoot. There were rope marks on his body. On January 1, 2003, the murderers secretly cremated his body.
Before this time, the location of He Huajiang's body was unknown to his family. Even his son and family were put under surveillance when they came to pay their last respects. They were not allowed to contact anyone.
The above are only a small number of cases of terrible persecution against Dafa practitioners in the Daqing Forced Labour Camp. Because the labour camp strictly blocks information about Dafa practitioners and forbids family visits, telephone calls and letters, most Dafa practitioners' suffering still await our further investigation.
