Mr. Shen Jili from Weifang City, Shandong Province was arrested on November 11th, 2012 and sent to the brainwashing centre in Kuiwen District Party School. He has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and his family and friends are worried about his physical condition.
Weifang City 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), along with about 60 officers from the Kuiwen District Police Department Domestic Security Division, travelled in several police vehicles to a residential compound near the Brewery in Zhuangjian Road on the morning of November 11th. They arrested Mr. Shen Jili and his wife Ms. Li Xueling and other Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Li is currently in the Shuiku Road Detention Centre.
About 17 other practitioners from Weifang were also arrested between November 6th-11th, including Yang Zhifang, a teacher at the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School, Xu Pei'an from Hulinfu Village, Shuangyang Community, Industrial Development District, and Mr. Liu Hongjun's wife from Shouguang. All of these practitioners are held in the Kuiwen District Party School Brainwashing Centre. The arrests were ordered by the Weifang 610 Office and Weifang Domestic Security Division during the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) 18th Congress.
The Persecution Suffered by Mr. Shen Jili
Before the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, Mr. Shen Jili was the workshop deputy director. He was in charge of production scheduling and statistics, and office director in the Sales Company of the former Weifang Brewery. He politely refused expensive gifts many times. After July 1999, he went to Beijing five times to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, and was subsequently fired from his job. He lived away from home for five years to avoid the persecution.
One month ahead of the 2008 Olympics, on July 9th, 2008, Mr. Shen was arrested again because he practises Falun Gong. As a result of the mistreatment Mr. Shen suffered during his detention, he became seriously ill and was not able to eat anything. About six inmates, led by the detention centre doctor, force-fed him. The pain and trauma caused him to lose consciousness within a few minutes. He was sent to a hospital, where he regained consciousness two days later. He was diagnosed with heart failure and abnormal accumulation of fluid in his lungs. He was later released.
More than 20 days have passed since Mr. Shen's recent arrest. His physical condition is worrying.
We call upon kind people to condemn and stop the persecution of Mr. Shen, his wife and other detained practitioners in the brainwashing centre.
