Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Min, 70, a former lecturer of the Electronic Engineering Department at Jiamusi University, is serving an unjust 20-year sentence in the No. 11 Prison District of Shandong Provincial Prison.

His family believes that he is being tortured, so his wife and another practitioner visited the prison on January 24th, 2014, to find out more about the ongoing persecution.

When Mr. Huang's son went to see his father in December 2013, Mr. Huang was carried out by prison personnel. Mr. Huang's mouth was mangled, his face deformed, and there were many blisters on his lips due to force feeding.

As soon as Mr. Huang said to his son, “They just want to suppress Falun Gong,” their meeting was immediately terminated, having lasted less than 5 minutes.

During the past 10 years, Mr. Huang was held in a solitary cell and monitored closely. Guards ordered him to write thought reports daily about what he had "learned" while in prison, but he refused to. Mr. Huang resisted being “transformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] and often went on hunger strikes to protest.

His family members met with many obstacles trying to visit him in prison. His wife, Ms. Zhang Shufeng, is not allowed to see him because she also practises Falun Gong.

His family went to see the prison officers in charge to remind them that, under existing Chinese law, family visits cannot be denied. They were told, “The prison rule states that as soon as Falun Gong is mentioned, the meeting has to stop.”

Mr. Huang was arrested in Weihai City, Shandong Province, in March 2003 for broadcasting information about Falun Gong through CATV. He was later sentenced to 20 years in prison and is now in Shandong Provincial Prison.

Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned at Shandong Provincial Prison are not allowed to talk about any sensitive topics, such as what is going on inside the prison, when meeting with their families. If they do, the meeting is ended
