Ms. Wang Qifang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Weifang City, was arrested by police. She has been held in the Weifang Detention Centre for more than a year, and her paralysed husband, 8-year-old daughter, and mother-in-law in her 80s have no one to care for them.
Before the 2014 Chinese New Year, her family and friends went to the Weicheng District Police Department and asked that Ms. Wang be released. However, the police said that her case had already been sent to the Procuratorate.
Two months ago, Ms. Wang's family was notified that she would be tried and that she would be home in two weeks. Two months have now passed, and she is still being held. Her family has begun going to the Weifang Domestic Security Division to ask for her release.
Family in Trouble
Ms. Wang Qifang lives in Xinheto Village in the Xiashan District. Her husband had a stroke 6 months ago, is now paralysed, and needs assistance. Her daughter was studying at an out-of-town school. Her mother-in-law, in her 80s, lives with her. In order to earn money for her daughter’s school tuition and her husband's medical bills and to support her elderly mother-in-law, she takes care of more than 1.6 acres of farmland when her own farm is not busy. She is the only source of income for her family. Her detention has put her family in desperate straits.
While she has been detained, Xiashen 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) officials have broken into her house several times and threatened her husband. They told him not to interfere, otherwise, their daughter would be allowed to return to school. Because the husband cannot walk and also does not have any money to hire a lawyer, all he can do is to wait at home for her return.
Benefits from Practising Falun Gong
Before Ms. Wang practised Falun Gong, the couple frequently fought. Since she began practising in 2004, she has conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She looks inward and thinks of others first, and her family is very happy. When she worked for a company, she did well everything she was assigned. Her co-workers, friends, relatives, and neighbours have only good things to say about her.
We would like to ask all kindhearted people in China and abroad, including Weicheng Procuratorate officials, to please help Ms. Wang safely return to her family.
