June 5 report: Some Dafa practitioners from Canada have gone to Chicago to join in Fa-rectification activities surrounding the lawsuit against the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, which charges him with genocide. At the same time, some Dafa practitioners in the US began a hunger strike in succession in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. They called for immediate, unconditional release of US citizen imprisoned in China, Dr. Charles Li, and to stop the persecution of Falun Gong.
After making arrangements for their daily life, work, study and local truth clarification activities, the practitioners from Canada left on their trip to Chicago. Practitioners who stayed behind will remind each other to intensify their efforts in truth clarification and continuous sending forth of righteous thoughts. Dafa practitioners throughout the US held a series of protest activities and press conferences in front of Chinese Embassy and consulates.
Through studying the Fa [teachings and principles of Falun Gong based on Truthfulness - Compassion - Forbearance, contained mostly in the book Zhuan Falun] and exchanging truth clarification experiences, practitioners have felt all the more that the event of suing the dictator in charge of the persecution against Falun Gong is an extremely important process during truth clarification and saving people.
For almost four years, Dafa practitioners have endured tremendous tribulations. With compassion they have clarified the truth to those whose minds had been poisoned by lies. Every time they expose the evil lies and the brutal persecution, they are clarifying the truth. Currently, clarifying this greatest truth is our most fundamental base of our efforts.
Chicago Dafa practitioners believe that once the judge decides that this case can be upheld and pushes it to the trial phase, the outcome of the trial will be very clear. Jiang Zemin and people from the "610 Office" have committed heinous crimes against Falun Gong. With overwhelming numbers of witnesses and evidence, even Jiang himself realises that he cannot deny his policy to eliminate Falun Gong and the crimes he has committed in the past nearly four years. The period prior to June 22, 2002, when the judgement is being rendered whether or not this case is legitimate represents the most crucial step in this entire process. Right now we are in the most crucial time period.
Jiang wants to stop the lawsuit "at all costs." Why? From the teachings of Falun Gong we understand the evil is most afraid of being exposed. The time when we have made the truth clear to all and have completely exposed the head of the evil is the time when all people will awaken. In the process of Fa-rectification, Dafa practitioners focus their truth clarification efforts on the most fundamental points, and use all means to completely expose his shameless nature.
June 6 report: On Sunday, June 1, 2003, New Zealand Dafa practitioners held a peaceful march in the capital city of Wellington to expose Jiang's crime of genocide against Falun Gong practitioners. In the morning, practitioners arrived outside the Chinese Embassy to join in global sending righteous thoughts. The march began from the Museum at noon, passing by the seashore, downtown and finally arriving at Cuba Street. It lasted for an hour.
Wellington is known for being windy. That day the weather was fine, but the wind was still quite strong. Practitioners determinedly held high banners disregarding the strong wind. Some practitioners passed out Dafa truth-clarifying literature to passersby who were eager to learn the truth. Then the practitioners held activities in Cuba Street to introduce Falun Dafa. Peaceful exercises, beautiful music, and display boards and banners attracted numerous people to stop and watch. We distributed all materials we prepared before the activity concluded.
June 6 report: Beginning May 26, Houston Dafa practitioners took turns sending forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese Consulate from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day to support efforts to bring Jiang to justice.
Upon learning that Charles Li was force-fed in Nanjing Prison in China, some fellow practitioners held a relay hunger strike in front of the Chinese Consulate from May 4, Wednesday until the weekend, to protest the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong and call upon the international community to show concern and rescue American citizen, Dafa practitioner Charles Li. Quite a few passersby requested relevant information and materials on their own initiative to learn the details.
At noon of June 5, 2003, Washington State Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in Pike Market Place Victor Steinbrueck park at downtown Seattle and called on Washington residents to condemn Chinese former president Jiang with justice, conscience and courage, and support US district court to process the case of suing Jiang and help release of American Citizen Charles Li being imprisoned in China.
In the press conference, Western practitioner Mike listed various brutal tortures that Jiang's regime used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners during the last four years and narrated about Dr. Charles Li's arrest in January, being sentenced to a three-year imprisonment later and being force-fed during a hunger strike to protest illegal imprisonment. Ms. Zhan, a Washington State resident and Falun Gong practitioner narrated her personal experience that police followed, arrested, interrogated and beat her when she went to Beijing in February 2002. She called on people with conscience to help stop the persecution.
After the speeches, practitioners demonstrated the exercises to audience. It was a nice day and many people visited the park. Visitors stopped and viewed the pictures explaining Falun Gong and showed their support to practitioners by greetings.
At 4:00 p.m. on June 4, 2003, Pittsburgh Dafa practitioners held a press conference on campus in the University of Pittsburgh to inform the media and public that Dr. Charles Li was force-fed and abused during his hunger strike in jail in China, and that Jiang is being sued for genocide in the USA. Reporters from the University of Pittsburgh newspaper came and covered the event.
At the press conference it became cloudy and it looked like it would soon rain. The school staff didn't want to lend us tables as usual. Sudden winds blew down all the poster boards. Practitioners then decided to sit down and send forth righteous thoughts. One practitioner distributed flyers.
At the moment they sent forth righteous thoughts, a female reporter from the university newspaper passed by and noticed our Falun Dafa banner. She told the practitioner who was distributing flyers, "About two years ago, I read a report in Wall Street Journal that Chen Zixiu was tortured to death for not giving up practising Falun Gong. I was deeply touched. I think all governments should stand up to stop this kind of atrocity. I thought of reporting Falun Dafa here, but I did not have the opportunity." The practitioner told her, "We'll have a press conference in a moment. Please join us." The reporter was pleased and called a photographer to take photos.
During the press conference, practitioners introduced Falun Dafa and the fact of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. They also released the news that US citizen, Dr. Charles Li was force-fed and abused during his hunger strike to protest his illegal imprisonment in a Chinese jail and that former Chinese president Jiang is being sued for genocide in US. Some students passing by were enraged at the abuse given to a US citizen and the crimes of genocide that Jiang's regime has committed. They signed a petition to help gain Dr. Li's release.
Later, as it became clear and the sun came out, the practitioners demonstrated the five-sets exercises.
