Cruel Tactics Used to Torture Dafa Practitioners in Moganshan Forced Labour Camp

Since July 20, 1999, Moganshan Labour Camp in Zhejiang Province has been one of the most brutal Labour Camps where Dafa practitioners have been regularly tortured. In this camp, police devised exceptionally cruel tactics and methods to torture Dafa practitioners. Because the camp officials persecuted Dafa practitioners with their full effort, Jiang Zemin's regime recognised the Moganshan Labour Camp as a "civilized labour camp of the province." The following accounts list the crimes committed by police in the camp.

Because of her firm belief in Dafa, Ms. Chen Xianzhi was tied to a door for more than twenty days. Dafa practitioner Ms.Yu Yamin's toe was smashed and broken simply because she refused to write the "Guarantee Statement" [A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practising Falun Gong and guarantees not to practise Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Gong practitioners]. Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhou Ai'nuu and Ms. Zhao Ailing were locked in solitary confinement during hot summer days for not renouncing their belief in Dafa. The windows and doors to the cell were tightly closed and the windows were covered with a thick black cloth. The police guards also turned on a 200W bulb in the cell and forbade them to have a drop of water. More brutally, the practitioners were forced to stand in the cell for 18 hours a day and not allowed to move. If they moved, they were beaten and kicked and shocked with an electric baton. After having been locked in the confinement cell for seven or eight days, Zhou Ai'nuu's clothes were saturated with layers of her sweat.

Camp policeman Chen Yunli frequently threatened Dafa practitioners in meetings, "Nobody will walk out of the labour camp if not transformed!" He also ordered the prisoners to monitor Dafa practitioners. He coerced the prisoners with promises of freely moving around and a reduction in their terms, trying to make the prisoners collabourate with them to persecute practitioners. Some prisoners who did not know the truth became accomplices of the camp police in order to seek rewards.

The practitioners' firm belief in Dafa kept growing. The camp authorities felt that their "transformation" work was getting more and more difficult. Even though they used extortion, deception and threats, using all available means, their "transformation" work achieved little results. They then built different jail cells to torture Dafa practitioners, physically and mentally.

On February 14, 2000, the police guards locked these Dafa practitioners into the "strictly monitored" jail cells. There were six of these cells. Each cell was about 4 square yards (approximately 6 sq. yards). At that time the cement on the walls was still wet and water puddles were all over the floor. The Dafa practitioners locked in the cells had to relieve themselves in the cells. The bed was a wooden board on the floor. Later they built a wooden frame measuring two feet wide, off the floor by 5 inches, to serve as the bed. The cells' steel doors were locked all day long. There was a 6x6 inch hole at the bottom of the steel door for passing in the food. The cell was very cold in the winter. Living in there was like living in an ice cave. To monitor Dafa practitioners, the police guards also locked some prisoners in the cells. These young prisoners wore thick, cotton- padded clothes and pants; some even covered themselves with blankets. Yet even they still had joint pains from the cold and dampness in the cell. The Dafa practitioners locked in the cells, ranged in ages from near 70 to over 40.

To persecute Dafa practitioners Ms. Fang Xueying, Ms. Shen Li, Ms.Yu Yang, Ms. Chen Zhixian, Ms. Huang Jinfeng, and Ms. Xue Xiaoqing, the police guards assembled more than 30 prisoners from among prostitutes and drug addicts to monitor them. The guards paired these criminals and then assigned them three shifts, 8 hours for each shift. The Dafa practitioners were not allowed to wash or change clothes, and not allowed sleep until after 12 o'clock midnight. Dafa practitioners' own quilts that they brought from home were taken away. They were given camp quilts instead. Each quilt weighed about 4 lbs (very thin and lightweight). Every morning when they woke up, when lifting up the quilt, they saw water dripping down from it. The practitioners locked in the cells were aged and physically weak. The police guards shouted that without writing the "Guarantee Statement" and being "transformed," nobody would come out of the cells. Ms. Huang Jinfeng, an older woman near her 70s, was locked in a cell for over two months. The prisoners monitoring her did not allow her to move around. They forced her to sit by the gap in the door all day long, letting the chill winter wind blow on her through the gap, causing half of her body to become numb.

Some Dafa practitioners had previously written the guarantee statement under force. Once they thoroughly thought things through, they understood that they should not yield to the evil. One by one they started to firmly cultivate Dafa again. Moganshan Labor Camp police perpetrators Ye Li, Chen Yunli and others persecuted Dafa practitioners more desperately. Recently, they instigated prisoners to take turns torturing Zhou Ai'nuu, who is being detained in the labor camp the second time. They deprived her of sleep for 8 days-and-nights, trying to force her to give up cultivating Dafa. When Ms. Bao Suying demonstrated that she wanted to firmly cultivate Dafa again and tried to clarify the truth, the police guard even taped her mouth shut.

When Dafa practitioners' forced labour terms were finished, the camp police tried to force them again to write the "Guarantee Statement," "Plan Statement" and other documents. If the Dafa practitioners refused to write, they would be imprisoned for extra terms. Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Hui was detained for one extra month beyond her term simply because she firmly resisted the extortion attempts from the police.

The above is only the tip of the iceberg with respect to persecution incidents that Dafa practitioners are experiencing in Moganshan Labor Camp.
