Yesterday morning before the evenings concert, David Bowies drummer Sterling Campbell went to Hellerup to demonstrate in front of the Chinese embassy.
Sterling Campbell is a dedicated practitioner of the Chinese-inspired meditation method called Falun Gong, whose millions of adherents in China are brutally persecuted by the authorities.
The hatred is unfathomable since Falun Gong has nothing to do with politics, money or religion. This persecution can only be explained by the Chinese authoritys need to control everything about each citizen, says Sterling Campbell.
He became interested in Falun Gong in 1998, when he saw some practitioners doing daily exercises in a park in New York. At that time he was living the traditional rock and roll lifestyle, with an abundant consumption of alcohol and drugs. However, something kindled within him when he looked into what Falun Gong is about.
After having practised the method for a couple of weeks, the longing for those previous habits had disappeared, he explains.
