A blind masseur in a northern city works in an orphanage. He's a kind and just person. He wasn't well off but he still adopted a blind girl. The orphanage personnel often abuse the orphans. He tried to persuade them to stop but to no avail. When he reported the abuse to a supervisor, he was laid off in retaliation.
In 2001 he went to City Hall to appeal his job situation. At that time there were many people appealing at City Hall. When he started talking about Falun Gong with the people around him, he said frankly, "Falun Gong is good. They (practitioners) are very kind. Even in the face of the persecution they have always been kind. If all the peasants practised Falun Gong, we wouldn't need any other regulations." When he was overheard making this statement, police put him in the detention centre for more than 10 days. They then ransacked his house and sentenced him to a ludicrous sentence of year and a half of prison. Since he is blind and cannot work in the prison, his prison terms were executed outside the prison with surveillance.
When Jiang Zemin's regime first started persecuting Falun Gong, he heard that the TV programme "Focus Interview" was talking about the self-immolation incident. He said to his family that the immolation was just an act, and not to trust the TV. Even a blind person can tell good from bad, I think those who can see the slow motion analysis of the self-immolation will be able to see the truth and decide for themselves.
