After being illegally detained for two years at Beijing's Xin-An Female Forced Labour Camp, Xiong Wei was released on January the 4th 2004. This has been confirmed by her brother.
Practitioners would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all those who have helped during the rescue activities for Xiong Wei. Without this help, practitioners could not have attracted the attention of the media and politicians to Xiong Wei’s situation.
It is a pity that practitioners have no information about her current situation and environment. It is worrying that Xiong Wei and her parents are still under surveillance by the police.
Although she has been released, Xiong Wei is not truly free if she is unable to leave China.
We will continue to help Xiong Wei return to Germany, where she studied for several years, or Israel, where her brother is currently living.
