We are the Berlin-to-Munich SOS Walkers.
Our walk began on August 11, 2001 in front of the Chinese consulate and in the next five days we walked 150 kilometers (about 108 miles) from Berlin to Potsdam, past Wittenberg and have today arrived in Leipzig.
We attempted to deliver a letter to the Lord Mayor of Potsdam who was out of town. We therefore handed the letter to his secretary. Another co-worker also willingly spoke with us. The largest newspaper in the area, the “Maerkische Allgemeine Zeitung,” (Maerkische People’s News) sent a representative to cover our proclamation in front of the Potsdam city hall. She interviewed us at length. The report of her interview was printed in the November 9th issue.
In Wittenberg we were lucky to speak with the mayor and hand-delivered a letter to him.
Again a journalist came for our proclamation presentation and interviewed us for his paper, the “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” (Middle-German Newspaper).
All during those five days of walking, church communities offered us overnight accommodation, free of charge, which we accepted. We appreciated their gracious offers. What was more important though was the chance for the hosts to learn the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution and to suggest ways in which they could assist the cause.
This evening we are accepting the invitation of a kind woman who has offered her home.
Tomorrow we will hold another proclamation in front of this city’s town hall and hand its mayor a letter. We will also try and walk through town to alert the media, NGOs and officials.
In those five days we distributed approximately 5,000 flyers.
All practitioners who wish to walk with us for a few days are cordially invited.
Practitioners from Germany.
