On International Women’s Day, I was at the venue of an evening banquet. This was a good opportunity for me to let people know the truth about Falun Gong. It started at 7:30pm, so I arrived one hour before to speak with the staff before I went into the meeting room.
It was bright in the assembly room with all the lights shining around us, and since today is International Women’s Day, there were only a few male guests. Everyone was busy setting up the stage. I felt very nervous among all the ladies with pretty dresses, but then I tried to calm down and walked over to a table near to me. I explained in Norwegian that I would like to hand out some leaflets about Falun Gong and the situation in China. I added, “If anyone is interested in reading the leaflets, please put up your hands as I am going around.”
My Norwegian is not perfect, so some people were explaining what I had just said to others who could not understand me. Someone asked for the price of the leaflet so I made it clear that all Falun Gong leaflets are free, just like the exercise classes. After I mentioned this, everyone put their hands up for a leaflet. At first, everyone got the leaflets in an orderly fashion, so I could answer people’s questions. But the venue was filling up and there were only two of us giving out leaflets, so we started to leave the leaflets on the table rather than talking to guests individually.
When I approached the last table, a woman who I know waved at me. She is a member of staff at a bookshop. She said to me, “This leaflet is great. I have seen reports on Falun Gong on the Internet, but I never really knew what it is all about. If you feel happy, would you mind leaving some spare leaflets in my bookshop?” As I left the room, a teenage girl stopped me and asked if I had more leaflets, since someone from a different room also wanted to have a look at one. I looked in the direction she was pointing and there was a waiter from the restaurant who wanted a look! They were happy to find out more about Falun Gong.
I looked around the assembly room and nearly everyone was reading our leaflets. Some people spoke to each other at times and some looked up as if they were wondering about something. It was 7:20pm; the evening banquet would start in ten minutes, so I left the room. All the leaflets had been handed out.
When the banquet was over, the two of us went back in. We went to every table to collect any leftover leaflets, but we saw nothing. We had brought along over two hundred leaflets and it is great that people took them home to read carefully. We sincerely hope they can come to know the truth about Falun Dafa. That would be great for these people.
