The No. 3 Forced Labour Camp of Henan Province, known as the "Second Masanjia" (1) for its cruelty, brutally persecutes Dafa practitioners. Mr. Li Jian was a lawyer from Zhengyang County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province. Because he refused to give up Falun Gong, the No. 3 Forced Labour Camp of Henan Province tortured him repeatedly, causing his death on April 26, 2002.
On the day before his death, Li Jian said, "Zhao Zhimin (one of the guards) is really vicious. He beat me so hard that I am still in great pain even now. Ren Gaoqiang (director of Group No. 3) directed them (Zhao Zhimin and others) to torture me."
On the morning of April 25, 2002, guard Jin Weishan shouted at Li Jian, "You are so incompetent when it comes to work, yet we have to support and feed you. Raising dogs would be better!" In the afternoon, guard Tan Junmin demanded of Li Jian: "Why can't you finish the work?" Mr. Li replied: "I am really feeling terrible and exhausted." Tan said, "Look at them (the other inmates), they are capable of stealing, robbing, and using drugs. What are you capable of?" Jin Weishan also verbally abused and kicked another practitioner, Mr. Ning Xinwei from Sanmenxia City.
It was after midnight when the practitioners were allowed to stop working that day. Worn out, Li Jian said on the way back, " I really cannot stand this anymore. They want to torture me to death."
Li Jian could not go to sleep all night due to the pain from the beatings he had received earlier. At around 1 a.m., his breathing became quick and shallow, and he went into shock. Because he was not given medical attention in time, Li Jian passed away.
Later on, Ren Gaoqiang tried to cover up the facts about Li Jian's death and spread lies about what happened, but practitioner Zhang exposed his lies. Practitioner Hu suggested a moment of silence for Li Jian, but he was overheard and verbally abused by the guards for the suggestion. The Xuchang City Prosecutor made a cursory inquiry, cooperating with the labour camp to cover up the case. They briefly asked about Li's illness and autopsy result, and quickly concluded that Li's death was a "normal death." They then hastily sent Li's family members off. We wanted to meet with Li's family members, but the police firmly refused.
In order to resist the persecution, we went on a hunger strike. The labour camp then put practitioners in confinement cells, tortured them with "Tying the Ropes" (2), and ordered the inmates to beat the practitioners.
The Dafa practitioners detained in the same group know the true situation: Li Jian's death was not a "normal death," it was caused by the torture in the labour camp.
List of persecutors (police guards in the labour camp of Group No. 3)
Zhao Zhimin, director of Sub-group No. 3
Ren Gaoqiang, director of Group No. 3
Jin Weishan, vice director of Group No. 3
Tan Junmin, vice director of Group No. 3
(1) Masanjia: Masanjia is a forced labour camp in Liaoning Province, notorious for its brutal persecution of Dafa practitioners.
(2) "Tying the Ropes": The torture method "Tying the Ropes" utilizes a finger-size hemp rope soaked in water. The persecutors set it on the Dafa practitioner's neck and tightly wrap it around the arms. In order to maximize the pain for the victim, they often strip the practitioner down to his underwear. Usually, over three persecutors work together to apply this torture. When the rope reaches the wrists, it is tightened. They pull the practitioner's hands behind his back, both ends of the rope are inserted through the portion of the rope on the neck, then two persecutors forcefully pull down both ends of the rope as hard as they can and then tie it. At this time, the blood circulation is cut off and the victim will experience increased heart rate, excruciating pain in both arms and within a few minutes, heavy sweating.
