For nearly five years, since July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime has been persecuting Falun Gong. A persecution of such magnitude has rarely been seen in history. The government has spent large amounts of resources on the persecution, in terms of both manpower and money. Large numbers of police and spies are used to persecute these innocent, good people. The county has suffered economic damages, and millions of practitioners have suffered the gravest injustice.
On March 19, 2001, the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp officials started a large-scale campaign of "Forceful Transformation" [to force practitioners to give up and renounce Falun Gong]. Led by the head of the labour camp, Hao Wenshuai, almost all the police officers at the camp were involved in torturing practitioners. Hao Wenshuai personally used an electric baton to shock practitioners on their faces, limbs and torsos, which caused many practitioners to develop blisters on their hands and faces. Police officers, including younger Wang Jun, older Wang Jun, Jiang Yi (female) and others, pushed practitioners down to the ground. Some sat on the top of the practitioners; others restrained the practitioners' heads; some shocked the practitioners with electric batons. In order to make practitioner Ms. Miao give up Falun Gong, the prison police tortured her for more than 20 hours.
This savage "Forceful Transformation" of March 19 caused one death and one severe injury among the practitioners. Two other deaths took place in the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp. One of the practitioners who died was Sun Lianxia, tortured to death on January 16, 2001. The other was practitioner Wang Qiuxia, who was beaten to death on June 10, 2001.
The following are accounts of some of the brutal torture cases that have occurred at the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp. I experienced some of them firsthand, and others happened to other practitioners.
Prison policewoman Wan Yalin was the deputy head of the female division in the Dalian Forced Labour Camp. Wan enticed the common criminal inmate Zhang Xiujuan with a reduction in term and better food, and urged her to persecute practitioners. Zhang Xiujuan had been held in the labour camp on two occasions. Since Wan Yalin was in the background to support her, Zhang Xiujuan used all kinds of methods and vicious ways during that time to torture practitioners. Wan Yalin boasted that those who were put into a solitary confinement compartment would not be allowed to get out if they refused to be "transformed."
In 2003, I was put into solitary confinement. The prison policewoman Wan Yalin and Yuan Lingyue urged criminal inmates Zhang Xiujuan, Yin Shiling, Xie Fangfang and Zhang Yang to torture me. I was forced to stand in the metal cage with bare feet and was not allowed to move my legs and arms at all. If I moved a little bit, they would beat me with wooden slats. I was forced to stand from morning until 11:00 p.m. or midnight, sometimes until the early morning. I was forbidden to go to the toilet when I needed to. As additional punishment they forced me to squat or do body-folding [body-folding refers to standing with both legs straight and touching each other, and bending the head down as far as it will go toward the feet, in front of the knees. The fingers point to the ground, the head is upside down, "folding" the body at the waist]. They tried to make me write the "three statements (1)" and a self-criticism letter, but I refused. They hung me up with both arms and legs stretched out. While I was in this position, the perpetrators tortured me with a number of cruel methods: they used the legs of a stool to rub against my private parts; they poured hot and spicy water into my mouth; they forcefully stuffed dry hot pepper powder into my mouth and forced me to ingest excrement and urine; they even stuffed dry hot pepper powder into my vagina. When I was let down, my legs had lost all feeling. They still didn't allow me to sit down. Both my hands were shackled to the metal cage, with the handcuffs cutting deeply into my flesh. Even now, my head and my wrists still have scars. Because I persisted in my belief, I have twice been held in solitary confinement, and my prison term was illegally extended by three months.
Ms. Han Shuhua, fifty years old, was a practitioner in the Ganjingzi District. She was sentenced to two years of forced labour. Because of her persistence in practising Falun Dafa at the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp, she was put into solitary confinement. The team leaders, Wan Yalin, Yuan Lingyue and Han Jianmin, urged the prisoners Zhang Xiujuan, Wang Fengling, and Yin Shizhen to brutally torture Ms. Han. She was hung up with her legs and arms stretched out and they beat her feet with a wooden board. They stuffed cucumber and wooden strips into her vagina, and they poured chili pepper water into her mouth. The most vicious torture was to pour boiling water directly onto her tied-up feet. Her feet were immediately burned and developed many big blisters, and she lost consciousness immediately. After Ms. Han was taken down, several of the tormentors dragged her back and forth, causing the skin on her feet to peel off completely. It was dreadful to look at.
