Mr. Xie Zhaoming was a 50-year-old laid off worker from Hongxing Printing House in Jiangjin, Chongqing City. He learned to practise Falun Dafa in 1997. Because he used his mobile phone to send text messages to people to clarify the truth of the persecution, he was flagged by the internet monitoring and targeted by the police for surveillance. In 2003, he was arrested and thrown into Jiangjin Detention Centre. On June 1, 2004, he was sentenced to five years in prison. On July 13, 2004, he was sent to Yongchuan Prison. Because he refused to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa, he was tortured to death by the authorities in the Detention Centre on July 28, 2004.
