In May 2003, I was arrested and detained in the Wuhan Detention Centre for distributing materials to clarify the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa. Later, I was sent to a psychiatric hospital south of Wuhan City in Hubei Province. This hospital is under the control of the Wuhan City Police Department, and it was here that I was confined for six months. During this time, I was subjected one of the cruellest tortures--being electro-shocked with needles inserted into my temple.
The following is my recollection of this incident.
First, six people pinned me down and strapped my limbs to a specially designed bed. Then, four people held firmly onto my limbs while the fifth held my head. The last one started to question me, "Do you still want to practise Falun Dafa? Do you still want to go on hunger strike?" "Yes," I replied. "To the very end."
One of them took two needles and inserted them into my temples, one on each side, about 4-5 cm deep, and then turned the machine to the highest setting. The session lasted for about an hour, which seemed like an eternity. "We must experiment more often on them," I heard one say afterwards.
While the electric current was passing through me, my whole body was convulsing with great force. The pain was unbearable. It was like a knife stabbing into my head. After the treatment, I lost all sensation and faculty of thought. My mind was in limbo, dwelling in a state of fear. Two of my front teeth got knocked out during the violent thrashing, and my left arm was completely numb. Even now, my arms still goes numb frequently.
When the nurses heard about the brutal treatment, some of them remarked angrily, "It is most inhumane to put a person through such brutal treatment!" One said that the effect of the electric needle could cause more damage to a person than an electric baton when used like this. It could destroy the victim's nervous system completely.
