Slave Labour, Extortion, Kidnapping and Murder used by officials in Harbin City

Heilongjiang Province

Li Wenrui, male, 37 years old, a cadre in the Foreign Trade Bureau.

Li went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong 8 times during the time from July 22nd, 1999 to November 6th, 2000. He was detained for 35 days and monitored after he was released. Li Wenrui was arrested when he appealed in Beijing on November 6th, 2000. His family received official notice of his death on November 9th, 2000. When his family went to the public security bureau, they saw that Li's whole body was beaten black and blue, the back of his head was caved in, and his ankle was broken. He was cremated the next day. The security bureau officials claimed that they treated him as a person who was against the Party.

Gao Shuxian, female, 68 years old.

She was arrested when she appealed in Tiananmen Square in August 1999. She promoted Dafa to the police and also rebuked them for arresting good people. The police denied it, and she was released half an hour later.

Wang Ruixian, female, 56 years old.

She went to appeal in Beijing last December and was detained in the Beijing Shijingshan Detention Centre. She protested the illegal detention and arrest by staging a hunger strike. On the tenth day, the prison doctor and guards pushed her down to the ground. Someone pressed on her face, someone on her leg, someone twisted her inner thigh, and the doctor injected her with an unknown drug. As a consequence, a large area of her arm was bruised, and her inner thigh turned black and blue. She was sent to the Prosecutor's Office in Xiong County, Hebei Province, where the deputy director extorted 400 Yuan from her in the name of buying a ticket for her to go home, but the ticket cost only 67 Yuan. The police left her only 20 Yuan for meals and kept the rest of the money.

Wang Jianxin, female, 55 years old.

In April 2000, Yang Shouyi in the Harbin Motor Power Sub-bureau extorted 3,000 Yuan from her.

Huang Ming, female, 39 years old.

She was detained in the Harbin Second Detention Centre in 1999, where Dafa practitioners are forced to illegally make toothpicks for export everyday. Sometimes they had to work into the evening. When higher authorities came for inspection, they were required to hide the work. The space for sleeping is no more than 18 cm wide and there's not enough room for them to stretch their legs. It's not allowed for one to go to the restroom or turn her body during sleep. Socks can't be washed for over half a month. The practitioners are not allowed to use the restroom or drink water without permission. Yang Shouyi from the Harbin Motor Power Security Sub-bureau extorted 1,200 Yuan from her on October 20th, 1999 without going through any legal procedures. Later, her family asked for the return of the money many times, eventually getting back 800 Yuan. The rest was never returned.
She was sent to Wanjia Labour Camp, where she worked everyday to make slippers that were exported to Japan. The glue they use is so toxic that it makes their hands and face itch. They have to work every day from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. except during meals and bathroom breaks. Sometimes they also worked the night shift. Their salaries of 120 Yuan each month were withheld, but they were still required to sign the salary receipt. Due to resistance from all the practitioners, the camp had no choice but to have the other prisoners sign the salary receipts for practitioners. Dafa practitioners would be beaten up and punished whenever they wanted to study Falun Gong materials or practise the exercises. The guards even ordered the prisoners to beat up the practitioners.

On January 14th, 2000, Yang Shouyi from the Harbin Motor Power Sub-bureau extorted 120 Yuan from Huang Ming's family for a so-called examination fee and asked for another 10 Yuan, but gave them an unsigned receipt. On March 14th, 2000, she was forced to pay a 120 Yuan insurance premium by Shi Yingbai in the Wanjia Labour Camp, otherwise her family couldn't visit her. In Wanjia, Zhao Yanmei also extorted her out of 100 Yuan for a class fee.

Xu Chunai, female, 55 years old.

She went to appeal in Beijing on February 17th, 2000 and was detained for 17 days in the Second Detention Center in Harbin City. Qu Mingxi, from the Harbin Knives and Scissors Factory, extorted 2,000 Yuan from her, threatening to stop her pension if she did not turn over the money. On September 28th, 2000, about ten practitioners were reading new articles by Teacher Li at her home when they were discovered by patrolling policemen. Two copies of the articles and one practice audiotape were confiscated. The police also reported this to the Taiping Security Sub-bureau and wanted to send her to jail. Her family had no choice but to give 1,000 Yuan to the Director Yu of the Tuanjie Police Station in Harbin City.

Kong Fanhang, male, 57 years old.

He was sent back to the Taiping Security Sub-bureau in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province after he went to appeal in Beijing in February 2000. He was released on March 7th. Later, Qu Mingxi in the Knives and Scissors Factory in Harbin City extorted him out of 2,000 Yuan. He was also expelled from the Party.
