Jia was scheduled to visit both the Senate and the House of Representatives to meet a representative from each. At the Senate, before Jia’s arrival, practitioners handed in letters for the speakers and the chairmen of all parties. The secretaries who received the letters expressed that they would give these letters to the speakers and the chairmen immediately so that they could read them before they met Jia. Afterwards, practitioners held banners facing the Senate. The police officer told us to stay on the opposite side of the road. When we mentioned that the distance was too far, he said, “This is already against the rules. Protest has never been held in front of the door of the Senate in the past.”

When Jia’s motorcade arrived and Jia stepped out of the car, the cries of “Falun Dafa is good! Stop the persecution!” could be heard all around the Senate. Before we left the Senate, practitioners went to talk to the police officer. One practitioner thanked him and said, “We hope that when we hold the demonstration at the House of Representatives later, you can arrange a nearer place for us, so that Jia can see our peaceful demonstration and banners more clearly. We need all good people’s help so we can stop this persecution together.” The officer shook his head, looked melancholy and said to us with anxiety, “If you do so, Jia Qinglin will be angry and give us more pressure. At the House of Representatives, we may not let you get closer.” This practitioner said, “Would a country of freedom and democracy listen to an unreasonable request from an autocratic government that persecutes human rights?”

The practitioner said this with a pure heart as well as a gentle tone, but every single word expressed a Dafa practitioner’s righteousness. The police officer suddenly smiled; the depression and worry all disappeared from his face. It was truly like he changed into another person. “How do you know Jia’s journey? His journey plan has been kept a secret.” This officer talked with us like a friend. The practitioners smiled: “In this world, there are still many good people who have justice in their hearts - it was them who told us.”

As we needed to hand in a letter to the Chairman of the House of Representatives before Jia Qinglin got there, we had to set off to the House of Representatives by this time. We said goodbye to our new policeman friend and he told us, “Thank you very much for telling me the truth about Falun Gong. I wish you success and good luck!”

As soon as practitioners arrived at the House of Representatives, a few policemen came over to “greet” us. Their true purpose was actually to stop us from getting closer to the House of Representatives. It seemed like what the former officer said to us is true: Jiang’s regime had put pressure on the Spanish Government and fooled them with lies. The place given to us by the police was the central position inside the square opposite the House of Representatives. It was circled by flowers, grass and trees. At the very outside was a cypress wall. Jia Qinglin would not be able to see or hear our peaceful demonstration. The police said that this was an order from a senior level and it could not be changed. The officer’s attitude seemed to be very firm and it there was no chance for negotiation.

However, a practitioner reminded everyone, “Hurry up and tell him about the persecution.” Along with these words a miracle happened! That police officer changed his attitude entirely. He was like a different person from before. He said to us very politely, “Please go and talk over there.” The “there” he referred to was the exit of the square, which was facing the main entrance of the House of Representatives. When we got there, the officer said, “You can stay here.” It was really amazing! Afterwards, when we were sharing our experiences, one practitioner who witnessed the whole scene recalled as soon as “Hurry up and tell him about the persecution,” was said, the officer’s demeanour became gentle. It looked as if his true nature understood straight away. While we were telling them about the persecution, all the policemen who were on the scene came over to listen, and they accepted the leaflets and Video-CDs happily.

About ten minutes before Jia Qinglin arrived at the House of Representatives, all of a sudden a few overseas Chinese people came out of the back garden. Under the command of an official-looking man, they held flags with welcome Jia on and stood in front of Falun Gong practitioners. The policemen did not stop them; it looked like they had planned it beforehand and got permission from the police. They opened a few flags which had already been prepared. Obviously, the so-called “Welcome” was just an excuse; their actual purpose was to cover Falun Gong practitioners’ banners. This has been a common occurrence when the persecutors of Falun Gong practitioners have visited other countries. Apart from those practitioners who were holding the banners, the rest of the practitioners started to talk to people. Western practitioners explained the facts to the policemen, whilst Chinese practitioners talked to the overseas Chinese people who were blind to the truth. At that time, all practitioners had righteous hearts and thoughts. In ten minutes, practitioners had enough time to explain the facts to the overseas Chinese people again and again. They talked about Dafa being first introduced to the public in Mainland China and how it is practised all over the world and has gained thousands of awards and honours, and they also talked about the crazy suppression in China that is a result of Jiang Zemin’s jealousy. From the self-immolation in Tiananmen Square that was staged by Jiang’s regime and how they shifted the blame onto Falun Gong practitioners, to the lawsuits in many countries against the regime members for their crimes against humanity, practitioners told them as much as possible. The overseas Chinese people who were holding flags listened quietly; some of them lowered their heads and thought deeply.

While the policemen realised that the Chinese officials had organised a “Welcome” party as an excuse to cover Falun Gong practitioners’ banners, they ordered those people to stand beside Falun Gong practitioners. When Jia’s motorcade was coming, that Chinese official angrily ordered, “Lift it up quickly! Cover them!”

However, it was useless, as those policemen who had known the truth stood in front of the “welcome” people like an iron wall; they were not allowed to move forward even a little bit. Meanwhile, the overseas Chinese who had known the truth did not want to help a tyrant to do such an evil thing either. When Jia Qinglin arrived, the flag meant to welcome him was held in a slouched position as shown in the picture.

Those Chinese officials who were preparing to welcome Jia Qinglin outside the main door of the House of Representatives walked around in irritated circles when they saw the “welcome” flags could not cover Falun Dafa’s banner. Finally, they decided to change the route. When Jia Qinglin arrived at the House of Representatives, just like any other visiting official who took part in persecuting Falun Gong, he was frightened to see the Falun Dafa banners and the peacefully protesting practitioners so he entered by the side door. The side door was a bit further from practitioners, but the voices of “Stop persecuting Falun Gong” and “Falun Dafa is good” could be clearly heard. The voices of Falun Gong practitioners attracted the attention of pedestrians who showed their support for the practitioners, and cars passing by kept beeping to show their regards.

During that period, there was one Chinese official who tried to use a big minibus to block the Falun Gong practitioners who were protesting peacefully. The practitioners went over to tell him not to help a tyrant to do evil things and this official left ashamedly. Another Chinese person was hiding between two cars and trying to take pictures of practitioners secretly. When one practitioner discovered this, he also held a camera and tried to take a picture of the guy. When he found out our practitioners’ camera was aiming at him, he was scared and he turned his head away immediately. Practitioners also told him kindly, “Jiang Zemin has been sued in many countries because he persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. Everyone should be responsible for his or her own behaviour. Please do not help the tyrant to do more evil things.” The secret picture-taker lowered his head and scurried away behind the cars.
