Mr. Xu Shijie from Rongxian County, Sichuan Province and his family were persecuted by Jiang Zemin's political group for refusing to give up their practice of Falun Gong. Mr. Xu passed away on October 8, 2003.
Mr. Xu Shijie, 72 years old, started practising Falun Gong in December of 1996. His many illnesses were cured afterwards and his health was in a very good state. His whole family also practised Falun Gong and lived in harmony and happiness. After the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began in 1999, Mr. Xu's three daughters went to Beijing to speak out about the truth of Falun Gong. Because of this, his daughters were arrested and over 16,000 yuan was extorted from the family by the local police. Mr. Xu was detained without any legal procedures for over 20 hours. After he was released, the police closely monitored his activities and forced him to report to the local police station every day. His three daughters were sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour and were sent to the Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong. Mr. Xu was worried about his daughters and was constantly harassed by the local police for a long time. As a result, he passed away on October 8, 2003.
