Falun Gong Practitioners 59 Year Old Mr Wang Jicheng and 60 Year Old Mr Xu Congxin from Chongqing City Died As a Result of Persecution

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Jicheng, a schoolteacher at an Elementary School in Chongqing City, continued to practise and clarify the truth about Falun Gong. On September 10, 2003, he was arrested. Two days later, Mr. Wang was imprisoned in the Chongqing City Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. There, he was tortured so badly that he was subsequently released on bail for medical treatment. After he was released in October 2003, his health never recovered. Wang Jicheng passed away on November 30, 2004.

Mr. Wang Jicheng, 59 years old, started practising Falun Gong in 1996. He clarified the truth about Falun Gong to people, but was reported to the authorities, and in July 2002, he was arrested. Personnel from the county 610 Office sent him to the county police department. He was subsequently incarcerated in the county detention centre where he was abused and mistreated, forced to undergo brainwashing and fined 2,000 yuan.

On September 10, 2003, Mr. Wang was arrested again and taken to the county police department. On September 12, he was sent to Chongqing City's Xishanping Forced Labour Camp for one year of forced labour. During this period, the police physically abused him by beating. He was tortured until his body was extremely weak. Confronted with his failing health, the forced labour camp had no choice but to release Mr. Wang on bail for medical treatment. After returning home in October 2003, Mr. Wang's health was constantly in a critical condition. He had difficulty straightening his back and had no appetite. He finally passed away on November 30, 2004.

Even before Jiang's regime began to publicly persecute Falun Gong practitioners, some people in Chongqing City had already participated in the slander and framing of Falun Gong. On July 20, 1999, Chinese Central TV news broadcast the first false case against Falun Gong - the "Death of Gao Sicheng," which was submitted by personnel from Chongqing City. Gao Sicheng, a person with mental illness, was not a Falun Gong practitioner.

Hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners in Chongqing City suffered various degrees of persecution. The authorities could, at any moment, barge into a practitioner's residence at will, to confiscate family belongings, carry out harassment and threats, demand fines and force people to be handed over. They even requested the family members of practitioners to treat the police to sumptuous meals at restaurants, and other forms of extortion.

Xu Congxin, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Ankang Village, was arrested on May 14, 2001. He was sentenced to a term of forced labour. Xu Congxin passed away on July 19, 2003 as a result of all the inhumane tortures he suffered at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp.
