Mr. Yue Baoxue, 38-years old, was a practitioner from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang province. He was determined in his cultivation of Falun Gong and appealed for Falun Dafa many times. He suffered brutal torture at Shuangcheng Detention Centre, because he went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. He was then sent to Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp where he was detained for over two years. His health worsened due to this long-term torture. His muscles atrophied and shrank. A large scar could be seen on his lower abdomen. On January 5, 2005, he passed away.
Yue Baoxue began to practise Falun Dafa in 1995. His illnesses were cured and his family life became one of joy and harmony. On July 22, 1999, the former CCP leader Jiang Zemin launched the nationwide persecution of Falun Gong, because he was jealous because of Falun Gong's popularity.
A team of police came to Yue Baoxue's home to search for Falun Gong related materials. Mr. Yue asked them not to take away the materials. The police got angry and arrested and detained him in the Shuangcheng City Detention Centre. A month later, the detention centre released him. They extorted 200 yuan, as a so-called "dining fee." At the end of 1999, the police arrested Mr. Yue again without any legal warrant. His wife went to the local 610 Office to ask Zhang Guofu and Zhang Shiyue about her husband's whereabouts. The staff told her, "We were told that Yue Baoxue might go to Beijing to appeal, so we detained him."
Yue Baoxue was held for six months before he was transferred to a brainwashing class held by the town's government. Liu Yuhua, the town mayor said, "You have to pay a 300 yuan fine." Yue's wife told them that she did not have the money. She had to bring Mr. Yue food every day . To protest the mistreatment, Mr. Yue held a 7 to 8 day hunger strike. They finally released him. The Hongqi Street Police Station authorities continued to harass him and his family. Sometimes, around midnight, they would shine a flashlight from outside the window into his rooms, or knock on the door.
Several months later, Mr. Yue went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained in Shuangcheng Detention Centre again, where he was tortured. An insider told us that the 610 Office hired people to beat him into unconsciousness. They used different torture instruments. Mr. Yue was then sent to Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp for two years for further persecution.
He suffered inhuman torture in the labour camp. He held a 28-day hunger strike and suffered force-feeding, as well as the following torture methods: "Long-Time Hanging,(1)" "Being confined in a solitary compartment(2)" and "Riding an airplane(3)." His health worsened due to this long-term torture. His muscles atrophied and shrank. A long scar could be seen on his lower abdomen. In 2002, the police hung Yue Baoxue on the bed frame, and beat him for more then ten days. The handcuffs tightly cut into his wrists. He lost all feelings in his arms and could no longer hold anything with his hands.
Since September 2002, the 4th Brigade police at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp have tortured Falun Gong practitioners brutally. They tried to force practitioners to sign a "Transformation Statement." Yue Baoxue was hung up for 6 days and nights. Practitioner Xu Zhenfeng was hung up for three days and nights. Both his hands turned red and became swollen. Mr. Xu's body was covered with wounds.
Yue Baoxue's body was covered with scabies. His health did not recover after his release. The long-term persecution and extreme mental pressure took its toll. On January 5, 2005 at 7 a.m., Yue Baoxue passed away.
Note:
(1) "Long Time Hanging:" There are two such tortures. 1. With both hands cuffed behind the back, both feet off or only toes touching the ground, one is hung onto the basketball support or house beam with the handcuff. Both hands and arms will soon lose sensory perception. In addition, both hands will go dead from lack of blood circulation. 2. One hand is cuffed to one bed and the other hand to another bed. Then the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. It is extremely painful when the body is pulled.
(2) "Being confined in a solitary compartment" - "Being confined in a solitary compartment" refers to locking up a single detainee in a solitary cell, which contains a basin and a pair of handcuffs. The basin is used both for face washing and relieving the urine and bowels. One end of the handcuffs fastens the wrist and the other end attaches to the door railing. The handcuffs can be fastened onto the door railing at three different heights. In the highest position, the detainee has to extend his/her arm upward. The middle position is at waist level. In the lowest position, the detainee can sit on the ground.
(3) "Riding an airplane" - In this torture, the head is bent down until it cannot go down any further, while the hands are pulled up and held up to the highest point. The hips have to point up. One is forced to keep this position unchanged for a long time. The body in this position looks like the shape of an airplane, which is how this torture is named.
