Mr. Li Bingqian, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Xinji City, Hebei Province, was constantly harassed by local perpetrators of the persecution. He died on the morning of January 26, 2003.
Seventy-seven year-old Mr. Li lived in Xinji City, Hebei Province. He started practising Falun Dafa in 1996, and became very healthy as a result. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, the police ransacked his home many times, threatened him, and tried to force him many times to write statements "regretting" his taking up the practice of Falun Dafa. His children were detained, sentenced to labour camps, sent to brainwashing classes, and had huge amounts of money extorted from them. Mr. Li was deeply hurt by all these abuses against him and his family members.
In the middle of the night on December 26, 2001, township officials led more than 20 police officers in an illegal break-in: they climbed over the wall into Li Bingqian's home, breaking a window in the process. The perpetrators ransacked the place. Mr. Li was traumatized by this event, and afterwards he developed problems eating. The police came back many times to try to force Mr. Li to write a Guarantee Statement (1) to give up Falun Gong.
On the morning of January 26, 2003, Mr. Li Bingqian passed away under the severe pressure of the persecution.
(1) "Guarantee Statement": A statement to declare that one is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
