Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dai Jianming, 27, was an undergraduate student in the class of 1999 at Wuhan University of Technology in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. After Jiang Zemin's regime began to persecute Falun Gong, he was victimised for his belief. His university tried to force him to give up Falun Dafa by using the threat of "not issuing a graduate certificate." Mr. Dai tried to negotiate with the university several times, but in the end the university still did not issue him with it.

On May 13, 2002, Dai Jianming was abducted and sent to Qingling Detention Centre, where he was brutally tortured for nine months. After he was released in the beginning of 2003, the "610 Office" (1) police kept coming to his home to harass him. In September 2004, Dai Jianming passed away under the tremendous pressure.

Qingling Detention Centre is one of the evil dens where Falun Gong practitioners are most severely persecuted. Under the directive of guard Zhu Handong, practitioner Mr. Peng Min was tortured on many occasions. Approximately fifteen criminal inmates would press him onto a wooden bed and use the sole of a plastic shoe to beat his buttocks. Mr. Peng was tortured to death on April 6, 2001. Mr. Dian Lifu was detained in this detention centre in 2000 and was tortured to death in November 2001. Mr. Li Xinglian was also once detained there. As a result of the persecution, he became mentally disoriented. He later fell off a tall building and died.

Note:

(1) "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
