After the brutal persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, a group of the most inhumane policemen were selected from villages, districts, and towns under Jinshi city to form a "Falun Gong Special Team". The objective of this team was to torture Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally arrested and imprisoned within the Jinshi City police station.
In 2000, Ms. Zhang Hengying was arrested for trying to appeal to the government in Beijing on behalf of Falun Gong and sent to the Jinshi City police station, where she was tied up and whipped by policemen from this special team. She was tied up with ropes going around her arms to her back, forcing her to kneel on the floor. Someone would then step on both of her legs, while another brutally forced her head down, causing her upper torso to twist painfully. Another person would then lift her hands, which were tied up behind her back, up to her neck and then whip her with bamboo sticks. Later, Zhang Hengying was sentenced to one and a half years of imprisonment and sent to the Baimalong Prison in Zhuzhou Province.
In November 2000, Mr. Zhou Zeyu, another Falun Gong practitioner, was also subjected to the same torture method of being tied up and whipped with bamboo sticks. After the policemen knocked him unconscious, boiling water was forced down his throat to wake him up so that the brutal whipping could continue. This would start at 8 or 9 p.m. and continue for an entire night. Mr. Zhou Zeyu was thus tortured for almost an entire month.
Other practitioners who were subjected to the same torture method in late 2000 include Ms. Hu Xinyuan, Ms. Liu Yunju, and Ms. Chen Yinglan. Ms. Liu Yunju faced overnight interrogations, was coerced to confess to crimes that she did not commit, and was subjected to other torture methods for a month. She went on a hunger strike to protest against the persecution and was illegally sentenced to imprisonment for a year and a half. Although the prison eventually refused to admit Ms. Liu Yunju, it was because of the fact that she was already on the brink of death and barely weighed sixty pounds. Ms. Chen Yinglan's arm was also deeply scarred. She was sentenced to imprisonment for a year and a half, and was imprisoned in the Baimalong Prison in Zhuzhou Province. Ms. Hu Xinyuan was also sentenced to a year of imprisonment and also sent to the same prison.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hu Xiaojun was arrested by policemen in 2000 and sent to the Jinshi City detention centre, where he was imprisoned for several months. In 2002 he was once again arrested to the Jinshi City Police Station and subjected to forced interrogations and brutal torture. His body was covered with bruises and cuts, and both his legs were badly injured. He was imprisoned for several months.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Zenan was arrested and imprisoned in the Jinshi City police station for half a year in 2000. In 2002, Ms. Zhou and her daughter were both arrested and sent to the Jinshi City police station, where they were brutally beaten and tortured.
Many Falun Gong practitioners have been sentenced to imprisonment in Jinshi City and faced torture at the Baimalong Prison in Zhuzhou Province. Large amounts of nerve-disrupting psychotropic drugs were added to the food given to Falun Gong practitioners, resulting in a loss of consciousness for many of them. Ms. Zhou Zeying was brutally tortured by policeman and was not given any food to eat. She was also hung up vertically as well as upside down.
On the Chinese New Year's Eve in 2001, more than a hundred Falun Gong practitioners went to the offices in the Jinshi City police station and tore down the anti-Falun Gong propaganda posted on the walls. They were taken away by the police, brutally tortured, and were not allowed to sleep for prolonged periods of time. Ms. Chen Yinglan was hung up in a room and tortured. When she underwent a hunger strike to protest the brutality of the policemen, one of the policemen with a large build sat on her and knocked out two of her front teeth.
As of February 2005, two Falun Gong practitioners still remain in the Jinshi City police station and are continually subjected to these brutal torture methods.
