Mr. Li Maoxun, 70 years old and a retired worker of the Dalian City Procuratorate in Liaoning Province, firmly cultivated Falun Gong, which resulted in a forced labour sentence and illegal incarceration at the Dalian Detention Centre for a year and a half. His son and daughter were sentenced to three years of forced labour since they had appealed on behalf of Falun Dafa in Beijing. The prolonged persecution and frequent attacks made Mr. Li ill. He passed away on March 31, 2005.
Ms. Li Baogu, 73 years old, lived at Qingyuan County in Hebei Province. She started practising Falun Gong in 1996. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, she planned to appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing. Lawless people stopped her on her way to Beijing, brought her back and detained her in Qingyuan County. She encountered persecution and was released after having money extorted from her. Thereafter she was treated as a persecution target. She was constantly harassed with illegal house searches and had 26,000 yuan (1) extorted from her. She died in October 2002.
Ms. Zhang Meihua, 59 years old, lived in Kangping County in Liaoning Province. She began practising Falun Gong in 1995. Since July 20, she actively worked to appeal for justice. Liu Zhaoxing, the head of the farm, went to her home and forced her to give up Falun Gong. Under the persecution of the communist regime, her old illnesses came back in December 2004. She suffered swollen legs, which did not heal and she was later treated at a hospital. She died on February 13, 2005.
Mr. Liu Yunchen, 61 years old, lived at Dalian City in Liaoning Province. In July 1996, he was diagnosed as suffering from a swollen lumbar vertebra, which could not be cured. In October of the same year, his sister brought him Teacher Li's lecture videotapes and he listened to them. After the first day his headache was gone. With continued listening he was able to return to work three days later. However, after July 20, 1999, the great pressure from the government made him give up Falun Gong, and frequent harassments by the local police made Mr. Liu ill in 2003. He died on March 1, 2005.
Mr. Guo Chunying, 66 years old and a retried teacher from Hongcheng Village Elementary School in Ningan City, Heilongjiang Province was harassed, had his home illegally searched, and was threatened on July 20, 1999. He was arrested in 2000 in Ningan City. After that, his body and mind were devastated and he suffered severe gastric disease. On May 27, 2005, the police harassed his family twice, at 2:00 p.m. and 10 p.m. Mr. Guo died at 2:00 a.m. the next day, May 28, 2005.
Ms. Wang Xianhuai was in her 70s and a retired teacher from Yilong County, Sichuan Province. After July 20, corrupt officials searched her home and took away all the Dafa books. From then on, she was frequently harassed by officials and encountered pressures from her family to give up Falun Gong. She was not allowed to leave her house and could not make any contact with other practitioners. She died in June 2004.
Ms. Du Qunhua, 62 years old, was a retired teacher from Yilong County in Sichuan Province. She used to be a volunteer assistant of a Falun Gong practice group before July 20, 1999. After July 20, corrupt officials searched her home, took away all the Dafa books and arrested her. From then on, frequent harassment from local officials caused the recurrence of her old illness that had been under control while she practiced Falun Gong. She died on December 20, 2002.
Mr. Jiang Guangcai, about 67 years old, was a retired worker of the No. 7062 Astronautics Base in the Longquan Region in Sichuan Province. After practising Falun Gong in 1996, his diabetes was under control and he felt healthy. After July 20, under great pressure from the government, he signed statements to give up Falun Gong. The officials also forced him to participate in a brainwashing class set up by Longquan 610 Office (2). He then left his home and stayed with his son where he could not practise Falun Gong on a regular basis. His health deteriorated and he died on February 17, 2005.

(2) "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
