County Government Persecutes Practitioners in Mental Hospitals

Chongqing, Sichuan Province

In the year 2000, Falun Dafa practitioner Wu Hongmei (female) has been locked up twice in the mental ward of the Beipei Coal Mining Rehabilitation Centre of Chongqing City, Sichuan Province. She has experienced severe persecution there. In the centre, there was already a Falun Dafa practitioner whose body was very swollen from torture, and she had a confused mind. The person in-charge threatened Wu: "If you do not reform [give up practicing Falun Gong], we will treat you like a mental patient and make you insane. We will then announce in the newspaper that your mental breakdown was caused by Falun Gong." However, their plot was not successful. They then sent Wu to Chongqing Women Forced Labour Camp for further persecution. On December 18, 2001, without informing Wu Hongmei's family, she was forcibly sent to the Xie Machang Mental Hospital in the Beipei Section by a Longfeng County Government official and by police. She has still not yet been released.
Before this incident, Dafa practitioner, Zhou Chengyu's death was caused by forced medication in the Chongqing Forced Labour Camp.

We would ask all Human Rights organizations around the world to call on the Chinese government to stop the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.
