On December 27, 2001, Nie Chunning (female) was arrested by two awaiting plainclothes policemen while delivering Falun Dafa materials to fellow practitioners. To cover for the practitioners coming to pick up the materials, she shouted, “Falun Dafa is good" loudly, and told the truth of Falun Dafa to the people walking by.
Later she was brought to the Political Security Section of the Fengrun County Public Security Bureau. The section chief Liang Fuxin tortured her in an attempt to force her to expose the origin of the Falun Dafa materials as well as the identities of the other fellow practitioners. Police bound her tightly, hit her knees and feet with wooden sticks and then handcuffed her with both hands behind her back. After being put in this position, she was hung by a rope, which was fastened to her cuffed hands. The police then strapped several kilogrammes of Dafa materials (which she had tried to deliver) over her shoulder. The heavy weight of the materials sagged heavily down her back. At the same time the police hit her continuously with wooden sticks. Police also held her by her arms and legs; they then dropped her to the concrete floor. Yet, after three days and two nights of torture, Nie didn't give in.
To cover up their crimes, the police dripped water onto Nie's face and asked reporters from a TV station to try to fabricate videotape to show that Nie had tears of repentance, but Nie revealed their hideous intention instantly and refused to cooperate. Her strong righteous thoughts smashed the police's effort to make a sham "transformed practitioners" video.
After failing to force Nie to give in after so many tortures, police sent Nie to the Fengrun County Detention Centre where Nie refused to have her picture taken or allow her fingerprints to be printed. Shortly after, she started a hunger strike. On the fifth day of her hunger strike, police in the centre tried to force-feed her. Police used a steel bar to pry open her mouth until her face turned blue, but still couldn't open her mouth. One observing criminal said, "She is going to die if you keep on force feeding her." Police then stopped.
On the seventh day of her hunger strike, police wanted to give her an infusion but Nie refused. On the 9th day, she was sent to the Tangshan City Ankang Hospital [Note: This is a psychiatric hospital under the direct control of the Public Security Bureau. Many practitioners were sent here] by the local police and the 610 Office [a specially created agency to persecute Falun Gong with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems]. The physical examination by the hospital found her body full of injuries; her heart beat abnormal, her blood pressure high, and blood in her urine on the eighth day. The hospital refused to accept her. She was then sent to the Fengrun County Chinese Medicine Hospital. Several policemen pushed her down to a bed and a nurse injected her with a tranquilliser. The nurse then tried to infuse her on her feet. After taking off her socks, her feet were found to be so bruised that no blood vessels could be found. So, an infusion could not be administered. Because of the situation, the police decided to ask Nie's relatives to bring her home.
Several other practitioners who distributed Falun Dafa truth flyers were arrested at different times; Fengrun County political and guard section tortured them similarly as described above.
